MU Things I Love

Telling stories, even weird, confusing, creepy ones that might not seem to make sense, and having others enjoy them and play along is such a rush.

I love researching for a new character. I mean, I'm a nerd and I know I probably overdo it but I just end up learning so much! Today, it's income demographics of an American state. Then I wondered why people were so poor around a certain area. This lead me further down the wikihole...I ain't back yet. All because I wasn't happy with the character being from Large, Popular City, USA.
Yesterday, it was the history of midwives, the day before might have been an extensive study on old western slang. Over the years, I have gathered a wealth of information about subjects all over. It may have only been relevant for a short time but it sticks with you.

That feeling when you are hitting your stride and enjoying yourself with absolutely no having to deal with OOC drama on a MU for the first time in like 5 years.
I really love my tailor/lady's maid and my knight on Arx. Even the BaRP is fun. I can tolerate huge spammy scenes better than I have in a long while, I think, because I have some solid RP partners that really give me the character developing depth (Even though it's not always nice or pleasant IC, or it goes in a direction I way did not expect!) that I crave, so the big events are just enjoyable ways to meet new folks and see if there's other people who seem like a good match for smaller scenes.
I haven't been as excited about/enjoyed thinking about and planning for even in off hours about a character in years. So much thanks to those who took a chance and really gave me something to sink my teeth into, and who have been wonderful collaborators in building things up! And if there's any people who'd like to play with me and haven't and want to see if our PCs click, feel free to hit me up!
It's just nice to be...happy about a place. And not stressed or feeling down because people are dumping shitbuckets all over you OOCly!

That moment when you are worried you are losing a character in your head, and then they just click back into place and make them fun again.
I hate it when I lose grasp on a character, but you can't have 'ups' without 'downs' and this is a great 'up' for me.

Vaguely related to my declaration of love for research is the moment when it all comes together and the character comes alive. They are no longer just stats or development notes. They live. I say that the character talks to me because that's kinda how it sounds in my head. Suddenly it's them telling me the facts I just researched in their own words. It's a trip and I love it.
-
It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's magical: That one in a million person with whom you just instantly click. Not necessarily in any sort of relationship - personal, intimate, whatever - but it's just a click like finding the ideal acting partner. The riffs flow, the scene is a series of 'yes and...' that builds into a perfect character building and expanding experience.
That's what I love.

That moment when you realize the players in your family/org (and extended friends) are just as spontaneous and wild as you are; Absolutely no ooc drama the moment they are tossed into a surprise GM'd scene by someone who is a total amateur GM and they are all shouting "GIMME MORE CHAOS!" Watching it all somehow come together because the players were all so cool. Really inspires me to try GMing a prp, something I would have never considered in the past. Thank you. Awesome players

Giving away clothes I'm made IC. It's mostly love, a little nail biting. I could junk them sure, but junkings a crapshoot and most nights when I'm punking around, I'm desc'ing up clothing for my clotheshorse of a character, so that they can be modeled the following week - aka worn once to a scene and then never again - and then about once a month of every two, just everything thrown into a chest and then emptied out and watch the herd of people come like it's some trunk sale for free clothes.
The nail bitey is that, even though I say it's for people to wear, please don't junk because it tends to be higher end materials/patterns/etc etc, I always sit there and wonder how many people actually wear the clothes or just come and grab it and the moment they're out of view, they junk it.
And then I catch a fleeting glimpse of my clothing objects on someone at a party - I look - and I smile, because I know it's getting used and someone actually likes it.

Playing The Devil.
So much fun.

Why are you guys going to make me choose the Devil? What kind of choice is that?!
On Topic: I love when others take the ball you give them and run. My PC gave another some heroin. (Don't worry. It's Bayer's. Totes safe.) Total IC thing he'd do, did it and moved on. I breeze about the wiki to find that that PC kept on RPing that he was stoned off his ass. I don't normally read logs unless instructed, so I don't usually pay them a lot of attention but it was a nice thing to see. Co-op storytelling is nice.

@botulism This also lands in RL Things I Love!
-
When a bunch of new people show up on a game, and most of them seem cool, and none of the scenes you have with them suck.
-
Bringing a long-term code project for a game to completion, and being ready to unleash it on a bunch of guinea pigs to test. In particular, I love reaching the point in a system where it's functional and you can start to really tweak it or add new features, rather than still constructing the basic functionality.
-
So you got the writer's block. Nothing is moving the creative pipes. You keep running into walls as you attempt to plot or create or what have you.
But then...that moment when you land on the ONE THING that will solve all your problems and all the pieces fall into place. Yeah. That's good shit.
-
Sometimes a scene is just good. It's quiet and atmospheric and in character and good. It doesn't have to be long or epic and dramatic to remind you why you're still in this hobby in the first place.
-
...when a couple people appear as if from nowhere, and are all awesome. Just right out of the blue, pure awesome, and hit the ground running (...smack dab into the fun kind of trouble, usually).

To add to this, when players are enthusiastic about testing the system, and give you lots of useful constructive feedback. Especially when they seem to have fun doing it; there's nothing better than seeing people enjoying something you've made!
