Put a gun in those pockets.

      A weddin' gun

"I bet you can run down that aisle fast, but I got six little friends in my pocket and they can all run faster than you."

I bet they make a BBQ gun just for those purposes.

MUFON is a crazy rabbit hole.

Some of them are perfectly normal people who did have an unexplained experience that led them down the rabbit hole. Others are wild-crazy-bonkers conspiracy theorists living in their trailers in New Mexico lined with tinfoil so no one can read their thoughts.

As for kitties and diets: I have to change up my kitty's food often, too for sensitive tummy reasons. And I remember once buying a bag of that Royal Canin hoping it'd be the trick.... it made things worse for her. She barely ate for days and I thought she was just being super picky because before that she was on cheap meow mix kitty junk food. Until I realized it made her super sick.

I felt like the worst cat mom the day I realized.

Kitty tummy issues are hard cause they can't tell us what's going on. I've taken Ike to a vet for it and she's overall healthy, she just gets food intolerances. However, for anyone with a kitty with a similar issue, FortiFlora is a probiotic that my vet recommended that does help.

Death. I know it's dumb to rage against such a natural thing but I just lost one of my cats, one I've had for 19 years, and I'm alternating between sadness and rage.

I am so sorry. 😞 Loss of a kitty is a painful thing. They are lovely, wonderful companions.

I don't know if it counts as "TV" but over the last week, I got sucked into watching this guy(steve1989mreinfo) on youtube reviewing army food. It's kind of amazing how long jujubes will last.

I've seen some of his videos! MRE reviews are a weird rabbithole, but fun

My husband's grandfather died, but no one is communicating anything on the funeral or whatnot.

I want him to be able to go if he can.... but I need to get a substitute now if we are going.

      Ugh. I'm sorry. 😞

I dealt with that uncertainty this past summer when my grandmother passed. I ended up having to buy plane tickets with only 3 days of warning (thank god I wasn't the one paying for them!).

I really, really hope they sort it out ASAP. Last minute travel arrangements, esp. for something so important, are so stressful.

      Here's the thing:

I fully believe that assuring someone that Staff is handling it, looking into the issue, and will speak to the person in question (if so warranted) counts as 'seeing results' for any reasonable individual.

Many of us have seen complaints go into black holes. +requests filed and closed with a scripted 'Thank you for your report.'

All it takes is a personalized: 'I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. I understand this can be difficult and we thank you for coming forward: we had no idea this was going on and we will certainly look into the matter.'

Making someone feel heard is doing something. But those simplistic 'Thank you for your report' job closures? That's empty. That's what leads people to grasping around, trying to get answers elsewhere. Because they don't feel like they were heard.

"Hey dude, apparently you're being a dick. Stop being a dick." It's not difficult.

Uh huh. And when they say, "What, me? I'm not being a dick." Then what?

You add that last line that @Thenomain mentioned. It's often enough to know that one is being observed to stop dickish behaviour.

Or they out themselves by swiftly accusing the other party or saying shit like 'Well, they sure didn't mind when <super gross shit>'.

Porchkitty ended up coming back by the other night. He knows now to just mewmewmewmewmew and I'll put out food for him. He doesn't even seem to mind that my cats sit and stare as he chows down.

I'm not sure if he's a stray or if his people just leave him out too long sometimes and he figured out I'm a free meal. But I've always, almost everywhere I've lived, ended up with at least one stray who I feed and offer (outdoor) shelter to.

      @faraday

I adore you and most of the time, you are on point. But the reason we were upset in that situation was because it really did feel like you were protecting someone who should have been gone. If you were in the hogpit group, you could see the whole thread on DownWithOPP and understand, maybe, the depth of why.

If the main person he'd been targeting had felt safe enough to come forward... it'd have helped. A lot. But he'd made her feel like she couldn't (and even in the way he'd practically brag to me about her, well...).

But that's a large part of why I appreciate the tools on Ares. Someone can just enable the reporting in-game without worry of being unable to log because phone mu or whatever (like mudrammer crashes whenever I try to log).

That was why we'd get upset. It was that particular dude. 😕 But the tools you have in place now should absolutely prevent anything similar in the future.

I had a dog (ex husband kept her in the divorce) who would regularly break out of the yard to go play with other dogs in the neighborhood.

One day she comes back home...with another dog. Just a happy pit bull with a collar, but no tags. Friendliest little boy.

I start going door to door to try to find his home.

Discover that some people had moved and just left him. They'd actually, we later found in checking the fence work...left him in his yard. Between the two dogs, mine had helped him break out.

I already had her and a pup I was housebreaking, four cats, four chickens, and pet rats. A third dog was just not in the cards. Thankfully another neighbor was willing to take him. Sadly, this happens so often. People have to move and don't bother ensuring they move somewhere that pets or allowed. Or if they must move somewhere (health, family, etc) that pets aren't... To find a new home for their pet.
