Also men's business wear just has more layers and is overall warmer and the thermostat is generally set in deference to that.

I would wear fewer layers if I could, but whatcha gonna do.

      Tradition

You can have the skirts/dresses WITH NO POCKETS if you want.

I'm sure us ladies would be glad for the pants WITH POCKETS and the jackets WITH POCKETS.

Had a phone interview yesterday. Not 'dream job' territory, but at least in 'pays better than what I was making and has benefits' which is totally 100% acceptable (more than, tbh).

Just got an email that they want an in-person interview on the 25th. Wish it was sooner, but hey!

I don't think shower preferences are a gender thing. I'm a guy, and I like my showers so hot that it leaves my skin red after.

Don't know. But women in the office complaining that it's too cold does seem to be common.

Anemia is more common in women.
Anemia tends to lead to an iron deficiency. Iron deficiency means your red blood cells aren't working efficiently to carry oxygen through your body to do things like, oh...keep you warm.

Anemia is a pita because it's honestly really difficult to keep iron levels up. Esp. when paired with other common conditions in women, like hypothyroidism.

Did you know iron (iron pills, iron rich foods, etc?) can make hypothyroidism worse? I have to juggle my pills each day and the food I eat so that they don't all cancel each other out. Thyroid pill immediately when I wake up. No dairy or anything with iron! And I don't want to take any calcium supplements alongside my iron supplement because that can cause severe nausea...

      yadda yadda yadda...

When the kale (super food!) craze was going on, some people actually tipped themselves into temporary hypothyroidism because they were taking too much of it (you should cook kale if you have hypothyroidism; don't have things like it or spinach or broccoli raw....at least not too much of it.)

I was fucking up my meds and timing so bad until I sat down with an endocrinologist and she was like "No wonder none of your shit has been working. None of your other doctors ever told you any of this?!"

Also, for any other anemic ladies: look up "blood builder" on Amazon. It's the only one that doesn't make me sick. Also has a bunch of other vitamins and minerals in it. Friend of mine that's a midwife/doula recommended it years ago.

@Kanye-Qwest I hear the sentinels are super nice. Totally not house-wrecking invasive snatch-and-grab murderbots.

@Auspice You can have all the guacamole in the world. I can't eat avocado (texture thing).

See, my texture issues (cause I can get behind that) lie with other stuff. Like cottage cheese. Pudding crust. HOT FRUIT (this is why I can't have pineapple on pizza: you can tell me it's tasty all day long but that also means you enjoy fruit splooge).

      No, no.

I just refuse to believe this is true.

I take hot showers (or what I believe to be hot) and every guy I've been with has complained that the temperature I set it at isn't hot enough. Now, I know my fibro makes my skin more sensitive than most, but I'm def. not taking a cold shower by any means (because I also hate being cold, cold is terrible).

And I also doubt that I've somehow managed to find the only few guys out there that do like hot showers.

A friend I haven't seen since I lived in Ohio (so... 12 years?!) is coming to Austin for the last weekend of SXSW (the gaming track - only 3 days, only costs $50 for the wristband). He loves Austin (he's lived here for stints before) and needs a weekend away.

Between that and knowing how stressed I've been (the 'lost my job' sitch), he decided to make it for SXSW Gaming, crash at my place, and will be paying for my wristband so that I can get out of the apartment and enjoy myself for a weekend.

Fun conspiracy theory I saw today:

There is no legitimate reason for any game to be 90 gigs in the first place. Publishers intentionally avoid optimization in order to take up space that could be used by competitor's games.

I like L&F less as a system to run an entire MU with and more as a system to run within a game.

I mean, a lot of us play MU characters who are nerds themselves and L&F is perfect for when your PCs wanna sit down... and be RPG nerds. Yes, it gets hella meta, but sometimes your BSG chars are stuck in the field and wanna nerd it up.

...I have used L&F for this purpose. And it's hilarious and works. 😛

I think WB just doesn't want someone in a wheelchair as a lead role.

I’d love to see what they would do with Xavier, then.

No, I think the kind of action movies these are, a wheelchair character would be much harder to write for. For all it’s action, the X-men movies are a lot more philosophical.

I know this is 20th C. Vs. WB, but if they wrote Gordon more like, say, Sharon Carter but with a personality, I think they would be fine.

I also wonder if that's why Fox went with the X-Men era they did for the new films, so they could have at least a little bit of 'hay look young Xavier, who can walk!' and then shift the focus to largely everyone else. 😐

I guess I'd be salty, but if I recall correctly Oracle is in a chair and Barbara Gordon hasn't really had much exposure in DC's films since played by Alicia Silverstone. I think you'd have to bridge that, and I don't think the general public is ready for a full-blown version of The Killing Joke, especially given the criticisms that Moore had to face even back in the old, chauvinistic days.

Huntress, Renee Montoya, and Cassandra Cain don't have much exposure either (Cassandra, arguably, has the least out of any of the four ladies). Black Canary is prob the only one 'well known' of the recruits.

They're all about re-writing origins anyway. Say she got injured in some other way as Batgirl.

I think WB just doesn't want someone in a wheelchair as a lead role.

I'm still most upset about BoP. Maybe Joker will turn out fine, but I am hella angry about BoP.

Yes, let's take Babs' brainchild and where she truly came into her own (as Oracle), how she went out and made it her mission to find other female heroes who had struggled and arguably 'fallen' and given them a purpose and....

      .......make it a Harley thing.

Fuck you, WB (I'll put the blame where it belongs, yeah). Fuck you.

It really looks like garbage, to be honest. I don’t know why they haven’t even tried to adapt The Killing Joke, but is the authoritative backstory for me.

I'm in the same boat as Gany here.
I've seen some of the set photos and Instagram clips and everything makes me cringe.

Actually, re-reading it I think it is starting to make more sense. I think I am just tired and mind numb after doing taxes for the last 2 hours.

If you're gonna play an FC, the option to have Staff input stats for you is still totally on the table. DarkSouls is awesome at it. 🙂

The cost of a wedding is pretty much a really great down payment on a house.

      That's how I view it.

It's why the first time I got married, it was essentially just a potluck in a park. I doubt I will ever get married again, but if I do, it'd be at most a similar thing. I don't see a one-day super expensive party to be worth it. I'm sorry to anyone who does, but I'd rather put the money towards something that I and my partner can enjoy together for years to come.
