      • "IF THAT BEEPS ONE MORE TIME-" (I never get to the threat. Apparently the tone is enough that it doesn't beep again. This is good because I'm usually too addled to come up with one.)

And it did. So I took the shotgun off the wall and I fired two warning shots. Into his head.

      He had it comin'.

He only had himself to blame.

So, remember how I mentioned the Love, Death, and Robots episode "Shape-Shifters" was based on another story by Marko Kloos (the author of Frontlines), but it was a story that was never published?

Just noticed he decided to publish that one as well, even though he never wrote the series that story was meant to be a prequel for.

I really dug that story, but then... Werewolves are rarely done well in film and I actually thought it grasped the feel of them appropriately. I especially dug how they went around barefoot.

I had to stop using my phone as my alarm.

It was too easy to pick it up and set it back down. Snoozed. I got to where I could do it in my sleep. Oops.

Now my alarm is Alexa and she's a bitch who doesn't understand 'Alexa, snooze' in my half-asleep voice. So it becomes a shouting match of "ALEXA, SNOOZE" and by the time I'm shouting, I'm awake.

      That ho.

Me: Oh wow, Bloodlines 2 is up for preorder everywhere!
      GOG: Available March 2020
      Me: ... Nevermind.

There are a few things I will pre-order (CP2077 will be one of them to support everyone involved), but with a whole year of lead-time? Yahno.

After Anthem I've decided to reenact my "wait until I know more about what I'm buying policy."

But then again, knowing me, 4 months before Bloodlines 2 comes out I'll squeal like a kid about Masquerade+RPG+maybe nudity and throw money at it.

If you preorder the deluxe one you get a stop sign item.

I can see, like Surreality and others, that the rules of the community can stop the administration from maintaining it, but we also forget the #1 rule of any private group: My group, my rules.

Which is why Tempest got a million upvotes for questioning Kestrel's personality.

Because no matter the rules, this hobby has proven over and over and over and over again that the rules don't matter compared to the administration enforcing them.

      Bingo.

I have little doubt Kestrel wants to create a positive safe space for the folks she allows into it.

I have absolutely zero doubt that the nanosecond Kestrel's ego comes into conflict with maintaining that safe space, that safe space is going to lose the battle at mind-rending speed.

Well, I mean, I tried to ask a question in good faith as to how they'll judge whether or not someone is a good enough staffer to be able to 'run' their game channel on the Discord and I was wholly ignored.

Because I fear it would be based on personal feelings/opinions and clash of personalities as opposed to 'this person did actually treat people of minorities poorly.' And it'd be shitty if someone who has stood up for those who are marginalized was barred just because they turned down someone's app once or denied a +job. And ignoring the query makes me think that's... exactly how it'd go. Judgement based on personal opinion rather than fact. And the hope that staffers will give people in their community special treatment/benefits to gain favor with their community.

      @Sparks

I think it depends on what your definition of a love story is.

I really enjoy a good love story, but it's not the getting together that means the most. It's the trial and tribulations that happen during or after the relationship that makes it worthwhile.

There's the fun of stupid moments in public. There's the fun of tender moments in private. And there's also the fun of having another PC and player that you can have one-on-one scenes with doing whatever happens to be within the setting.

It doesn't have to be sexy times all the time. It's nice to have someone that you can RP with from time to time on a consistent basis, and have a reason to interact with.

      I miss my relationships.

This. But that's also why there's certain people I RP 'em with.

'Cause a lot of people reach the 'love' stage and just wanna lie around being all lovey-dovey and it's meh. Boring.

But I have a couple people I know I can RP a relationship with and there are trials and tribulations and struggle and actual meat to the story and I absolutely love the ride.

"Good Hunting" was superb, one of my favorites.

I'm only through about half of the shorts, but so far "Good Hunting" just wouldn't get out of my brain. The story is amazing but the mixing of genre makes it difficult for my brain to process. The best part though? Victorian Steam-Punk Hong Kong would make a kick-ass game setting.

No joke, right? I had the same thought of "Victorian steampunk Hong Kong with hidden magic that's dying out? That would make a brilliant tabletop campaign setting."

Honestly, a lot of them are like 'ooh that'd make a fun game... That'd make a fun game!' and so on.

Good Hunting would. Lucky 13 would.

Shit, 3 Robots would TOTALLY make a fun little quirky TT game. 'Okay everyone, here's a robot randomizer chart.' 😄

(ETA: btw, using Samira Wiley in L13 made it even better. She was awesome for it.)

@Auspice I once deeply offended someone by laughing when they posed penetrating someone's cervix. He named like 4 other pcs who said they loved it when a man did that. Oooookay, mister matchstick diameter cock!

Also dont go meet someone your first day on grid at the family mansion room that has a hot tub in it. 😛

And I'd be willing to bet every single one of those other PCs were played by a guy who also doesn't know how the female anatomy works. Or by women who just didn't wanna hurt his feefees. 😛

I especially enjoy how bent out of shape dude-playing-ladies get when you try to explain women's bodies just don't work that way.

Like, c'mon, ovary up and learn something. You'll RP it better next time and it'll be a better experience for everyone. Shit, maybe you'll become a better sexual partner IRL.

...you might even stop trying to 'hit her cervix' the next time you're playing a dude on a game. 😛

don't have a reputation for being part of the problem

Out of honest curiousity: how do you judge this? Especially with the large number of games out there and many staffers may be relative unknowns. Is it guess work? What is 'problem' based on?

Would 'I didn't like how they handled my app' cause them to be barred?
Would 'We didn't get along at all' get them barred even if they have otherwise a history of being supportive and well-meaning, just abrasive?

I wanna know, will there be a rule added against unsubstantiated witch-hunts before or after someone's reputation is ruined by a scorned ex-TS partner?

Why bother even setting up the server then. I mean isn't that the actual purpose of discord servers, period?

Well, I mean, almost all the Discord servers I'm on currently are for 'game clan' type things for vidja games. Or RL groups to chat when we aren't together and to plan get-togethers.

EDIT: Oh, wait! I am on the Ares one, but that's mostly Fara sharing updates and code q's.

It is p. awesome. But yeah, lot of the gamergate toxic crowd crying about politics and I'm just over here like, 'Do you even Vampire?'

So any of them argue in my sphere (I don't wanna delve into a fucking article comments thread), I'll just be in the stance of: git gud newb. 😛 This isn't some random ass Battlefield or CoD. This is a game whose roots are in politics.

@Auspice Haha thx I'll read it. I'm way excited about this game, but hang on, I'm accessing my mutant ability to see into the future....

Zack Smith was hired on to work on a WoD video game. If he is in the credits, this will become a contentious video game despite this political buzz

      CoughCoughCough.

Sorry, seeing the future takes a bit out of me. Seriously, though, that topic is probably 4 hours away, or 4 hours after someone gets their hands on the game's credits.

I dunno if he was, but so far it's: 'you're allowed to make whatever character you want (female, male, non-binary, etc etc) and the gender pronouns in the game are flexible to that choice' and the 'but mah gamez and politics' crowd are flipping their shit.

To the extent that some are going 'PC CULTURE AREN'T ALLOWING DEVS TO MAKE THE STORIES THEY WANNA MAKE'

So seriously, it's: 'Do you guys have any remote fucking clue what V:tM even is?!'
