@Auspice That's probably a better policy, all the way around!

RE: Potential Buffy Game

heart is a Hunter game from a certain point of view, and those tend to get either very sandbox-y and/or very reliant on Storytellers/GMs. Both of these traits can make a MU* inactive fast as their players become disconnected from each other then get stuck waiting for someone to do something.
What you could consider is giving a different kind of structure for them to do on their downtime. Classes, for example; set up a Watcher supernatural school-within-the-school complete with tests, grades, teacher aides, things going wrong during spellcasting 101... just hand things for PCs to do with each other other than fight monsters of the week or TSrelationship drama which is great as gravy but very soon would get them idlying. No helpful suggestions, but man, I would play the hell out of a Buffy game, so thanks for working on this!

RE: Tenuous Tie-In or Original Universe?
@sg If I could figure out how to make a space horror game sustainable, I'd go for it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I think horror is probably the most elusive of themes to sustain in a MU* environment.

RE: Potential Buffy Game
Heh. Kind of Hogwarts meets Buffy, maybe? Or even a little X-Men vibe.
A secret school for monster hunters (slayers, spirit warriors, demons, etc.) hidden in a university with normal students getting pulled in with distressing regularity. (Gotta have the Xanders.)
That might give you a team/group dynamic of smaller groups, if people decide to group up. If not, they can rock the immaculately good hair that goes with the whole brooding loner thing.

RE: Potential Buffy Game
The Hellmouth could have migrated. Or been yoinked by some really unwise cabal of Daytonian witches (it's always witches) for some reason.
That would also make for a great plot point.
"The Hellmouth moved here."
"Um, that's not possible. The ancient texts are quite explicit."
"Tell it that. I'll be up here, cowering behind the shelves."

Gamers are worse than strict constitutionists in their ability to nitpick and argue a thing until the soul of the thing is crushed under pedantic disagreement.

RE: Automated Adventure System
Hm. Soooooo, you've basically invented a MUD inside a MUSH? If you could get a MOO in there, it would be like a text turducken.

Why am I not watching this show?

@Taika WoD so I wouldn't touch it with someone else's finger, but kudos for setting it in Chicago instead of some backwater New England village, so when there are inevitably 4334645 strip clubs, biker bars, and B&Bs, it at least makes sense.
Hey! We don't have that many strip clubs. Mostly because cellulite is a lifestyle here.

RE: Saving Pages to the Database
I'm not sure I'd ever want to look at user pages.
Other people's TS is a lot like other people's vacation vids. Theoretically you know it exists, but nobody else wants to see that stuff.

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
I would love to do something like Blue Planet/Subnautica but with both a little post-humanism and a little Andre Norton thrown into the mix.
Colonists trying to settle a water world, reached through a one-way* wormhole. Regular folks, former military or other combat oriented people with significant cybernetics, genetically modified colonists and a few AIs all working together (and sometimes in factions) to create a toehold on a beautiful but inhospitable world. And then there are the alien ruins under the water.
*Not as one-way as people are told. In truth, data can go both ways while the wormhole is open, but it takes massive amounts of power to open said wormhole, so it's at the core of a giant solar array just outside Mercury orbit. Well outside the colonists' ability to replicate for decades, if not centuries.

Could a MC2 or Heroic Age Supers Game Work?
I have been seriously considering putting together a supers game and following the conversations on MSB about the whole canon vs original universe thing.
One idea that I keep circling back to is the thought of doing what Marvel tried to do with their Marvel Comics 2 and Heroic Age lines. Which is to say, 'Yes, this continuity happened but those guys are gone now for some reason and the world is full of legacy characters based on them and original characters'.
I know Inheritance Gambit kind of does this, but I feel like the whole cyberpunk, end-of-days vibe adds a layer of complexity and moves things away from the superhero aesthetic and feel. I would be aiming more for a Next Generation feel. The next iteration of the Marvel or DC universe, with perhaps a few storyteller characters that linger from the last generation but don't actively do the hero or villain thing anymore.
Also, I think this kind of game would work best when limited to one continuity. It defeats the purpose of making an accessible but all OC game if I make the players read through pages of blended Marvel and DC background that I try to make coherent.
Is this a truly terrible idea or does it sound like something people would play? If so, which makes more sense: Marvel or DC?

I really like the idea of a supers game where you wouldn't need to know all the deep and intricate lore behind every character and plot event, but existing in the continuity of a world we know something about. A huge amount of lore to know or learn is one of the hardest things to approach on a game and one of the easiest things to fail on.
If the original heroic age ended in, say, the 90s, then most people would be aware that there once was a Spider-Man, etc, and their general themes, but not much more than that, unless they are in their 30s or a superhero nerd. The biggest buy-in for players would be system (I'm thinking of going Icons Assembled, by Steve Kenson) and some geopolitical differences everybody would know. (Atlantis is real! And cranky! Latveria and Wakanda exist. Yes, we knew there are aliens, they've invaded a couple of times, back in the 60s through the 90s.)

RE: Old Republic Star Wars Game - FFG System Poll
Germane thought: I am always willing to give almost any system a shot. If it doesn't cripple the game, it's all good. (For hypothetical divinity's sake, I played on Windy City and that system was so bad it would have given the Rolemaster guys pause.)
Tangential thought: The Old Republic! Yes, please. I could write a ten page essay on why, but just imagine a middle-aged man making light-saber noises and pulpy prop-airplane-as-space ship drive sounds for several seconds and it basically would convey the same meaning.

RE: Legends of the Old Republic - In Progress Star Wars Game
I am already working on concepts. So far my favorite is a Jedi who isn't a terribly good Jedi (he's a little too fond of nice robes and comfortable suites at the Four Sectors), but he is a pretty good diplomat. He's also haunted by the nagging force ghost of his great-grandmother who was a great Jedi and wants him to do better.
"When I was your age, I'd already helped bring the pirates of the outer rim to justice!"
"Well, I was thinking of trying out that new Sullustian sushi place near Senate Plaza. That's a step in the right direction, I think."
