- Most XP on online games involves +votes or weekly accumulation. My idea is to create an 'active experience' system, which rewards characters for engaging in IC behavior integral for the sphere as a whole. So, for Vampires, it would be the acquisition of blood.
Titled (landed) Vampires acquire blood by holding a territory. They have a set pool, which is determined by a number of factors: Size of the territory, importance, etc. It could be a street block, night club, to an entire section of the city. From this pool, they derive blood, which they can convert into XP. Not only do they derive XP, this is the currency to ensure their vassals (typically NPCs who they control) are loyal. They also have to kick up pool to their liege. Since the game is set in NYC, there's a number of titles for players to choose from, and ways to acquire it through OOC (starting) or IC (conflict) means.
Vampires can also acquire blood (hence XP) through Influence in some areas -- for example, prostitution would increase blood and money.
- The point of the stock market is not only thematic (as there are character types who focus on Financial Investment), but also as a opportunity for conflict. This game will be Camarilla-centric; and in my opinion, and from what I've read about V5 Cam, combat in the Cam is largely non-combative -- this does not mean that there's not struggle, it just means that there is a code much like the Italian mafia where its members aren't touched. This doesn't mean they are never touched, but it means it should be more rare than not. Creating other avenues for conflict, then, should be part of Staff's goal.
The Stock Market isn't a mandatory area -- it's not necessary -- but it should be a long term stretch goal. Also, it's meant to 'resemble' IRL -- not acquire a direct daily feed to NASDAQ and be filled with RL corporations.
