      Kylo Ren will be in the game, but as an NPC.

      We are not having any FC's in the game. Reason being, the problem we saw on other games, were the FC's were fought over, and got the most coveted RP's and attention. So a player who was a cadet at the academy often got over looked because he/she wasn't a FC. Remove the FC's, and allow everyone to play an integral part of the plot/story arc. No favorites. No staff players playing the FCs. No drama.

      Greetings!

      My name is Darren (aka Fantom) and I am looking to put together a team for a project I am currently working on.

      The project is a 2 phase project, with phase 1 eta completion in 2016 and phase 2 in 2017.

      Phase 1: Star Wars: Rogue MUSH
      Based on Star Wars: New Worlds (codebase/db), creating a star wars based RP set somewhere in the 60ish ABY timeline. I like this timeline because most of the FC's are older and not active. It lets some of the younger characters really develop into significant roles, and the children of the FC's and their children really get to take a role in the main plot arc. Also, because the game is based on Legends, between 45-130aby there is not a lot of material. This allows us to base a storyline on our accord, based on galactic events that the players create, and gives us incredible flexibility.

      I mention the flexibility because my motivation for this game is much different then it usually is. I have built many muds, mushes and other online games. And I've realized that I've always built them to how I would want the game to be. It makes sense, to that the creator of something creates something in his own image. But this time is different. This time, I want to create something for the players. A game for the players. What does this mean? It means there are no favorites. No top FC positions held only by admins. No 2 year waiting period to become a jedi or a sith. If you want to be a jedi, day 1, your a jedi. Want to be a sith maraudeer? Boom, day 1, sith. Sure, there are force rules, because we can't have players running around force lightning every player they see. But there is so much more to RPing a jedi or sith or other force user that to deny the players the chance is just wrong. On Star Wars: Rogue MUSH, playing a force user is a right, not a privilege for the elite. And hey, want to play a smuggler? Leader of a Confederation? CEO or a ship builder? All characters can fit into our blank slate storyline, so all players have a chance to act out their star wars characters as they see fit.

      A little bit about what we have in place so far: I run a VPS, so we have a very secure, very stable server. 4xIntelXeon processors, 6GB ram, 40GPs upstream connection, 60GB SSD /w raid running Debian. The advantage to our own server, is our email, website, wiki everything runs on our server. No ads. No wikia slowness. Everything is on our server. We have a website up right now with forums. http://swrmud.com (beta). Mediawiki server is up http://swrmud.com/swrwiki. Haven't added anything but its on the todo list.

      What I'm looking to do is put together a team. Once we have a team in place, we can start the work of rewriting the existing DB to match our story lines. As you know, SW:NW had almost 3000 rooms, 4500 exits, and 2600 objects. Hardcoded Dspace system modified to match the D6 system. Full chargen, space, economy, org/factions, force system and coded planets, sectors, space stations are all in there. We just need to start molding it to our storyline. Also, once our team is assembled, we can begin the work of writing our storyline/plots. I have some ideas in mind, but would love to collaborate.

      The positions I am looking for would be: Code Wiz, Head World Wiz, Head RP Wiz, Head Char Wiz, Wiki Wiz. And then fill in from there. Quality over quanity.

      A little bit about me: I'm 36 years old. I live in Alberta, Canada and enjoy a job where I get to sit in front of a computer all day and work on the MUSH. I do work, I am in the field sometimes, but 90% of my days I am available to this project. I do have 2 little kids, so I balance my work/play/home life I'd like to think rather well. The point is, I am committed. I am not looking at starting this up and dropping it in 4 months. If our playbase drops, I'm not packing up and taking off. There are 2 more star wars movies coming out over the next several years, and I plan to be around for each of those releases 🙂

      I am well versed in C, JAVA, PHP, HTML, hardcode and softcode. I'm not a master softcoder, as I have been working on muds more then mushes lately, but I can get by.

      Phase 2 concerns a heavily coded, modified SWR:FOTE FUSS mud I was working on. Lots of work left to do on it, and I won't even look at it unless I can build a mud team or when Phase 1 is where it needs to be. But basically the mud will be an extension of the mush, and offer players who are more into hack n slash then RP a place to play.

      I look at the mud/mush listings every day. I see SW themed games pop up, their advertisements are less then 3 months old, go to connect, and no hostname exists. Websites don't work. WIKI's are third party hosted with nothing on them. I promise I do not intend for SWR to follow this path. Click on our website or connect to our MUSH 365 days from today, and both will still work, be active and updated. I promise that.

      On a side note: Even staff won't play NPCs. We will have an NPC catalog of stormtroopers, hutt bounty hunters, mercenaries that will add ambience to the scene and assist with combat. Kylo Ren, General Organa, Snook, Luke all of them will be similar to Queen Elizabeth for Canada. She is "technically" the head of state, but you never see her, only read about her, and she has no power. Each faction will have a PC leader. IE: The First Order will have PC leader...who will "answer" to Snook, and it will be assumed that his orders will come from Snook. But no staff will play Snook. You would only EVER see him in very special scenes and ONLY to add ambience, NEVER to tip the scales.

      Guess I'll throw my two cents in here as well.

      It's so important to be organized. And not just notes on a yellow sticky organized, but ORGANIZED.

      I have 2 binders I carry around with me when I travel, go home, at the office, where ever. One binder has all my data. Every object on my mush is in an excel spreadsheet, with description and location. Any objects connected to that object (db's for example) then branch down from there. I have a spreadsheet with all my planets, ships and HSpace coordinates. Because I have 2 other DBs from 2 other games I grab code or inspiration from, I also keep identical spreadsheets of their vnums for reference.

      I then have spreadsheets for my factions, commercial businesses and black market/VIS. My chargen has a section, as does any third party soft code I have (volunds, Dahans etc). I also have a huge section on Rhost, which is basically some charts showing different functions between the two and pages and pages of conversations with @Ashen-Shugar 🙂

      My other binder is data. Because I'm doing a Star Wars themed D6 game, I have 4 rule books and 4 add ons of WEG D6. I then have every dictionary, picture book, reference manual, visual dictionary possible relating to Star Wars and TFA series. This binder is big, almost 600 pages. It's all tabbed, so if I want to know if a certain planet is canon and what species are on that planet and where it is in the galaxy compared to Tatooine, it takes me maybe 30 seconds to look it up, no matter where I'm at.

      I then have a 3rd smaller binder that has my website / tech stuff. Server stuff, and everything from my WIKI database spreadsheet to the web fonts I want to use to the bootstrap / css manual.

      In my office I have 4 whiteboards that I use constantly to brainstorm, 3 monitors and 2 computers.

      My todo list always sits front and Center, and being organized allows you to spend time coding or writing or building instead of scrambling around looking for something. It takes a long time to gather your materials and organize them in such a fashion, but imho it is worth it in the end.

      These are very good suggestions.

      SWR has 3 mandates.

      1. Find a timeline that's unique. There are games played in canon, was an old republic game, and there have been several (that ultimately failed) based on rotj.

      2. Find a plot that's unique. I know this may unsettle some players because it's not cookie cutter, but that leads to our third mandate:

      3. NO FCS. Play what you want without waiting 6 months. For those who remember me talking up this game 2 years ago, our mandate was clear. No FC chars, no staff run special characters, not waiting in line to play the character you want to play.

      These things are not easy, but doable.

      We are having some fantastic chat and banter in our discord channel. We have settled on a timeline, we are just fleshing it out. I appreciate everyone in there giving their 2 cents and helping shape the game.

      Update: Its coming along. Chargen is just about done, D6 WEG system just about done, force system just about done. Porting penn to rhost is not an easy endeavor, but will be worth it. We are aiming for a late summer open, but I won't be setting a definite time as I want to have a superior gaming environment vs rushing some half assed half completed garbage out. I promise you, it will be worth it! In the meantime, enjoy my other artwork as you wait! 🙂 🙂 🙂

      No opening date as of yet.

      We are not IC. Still coding systems and building the HSpace universe. Because summer is upon us, most of my staff are out and about doing summer type things, so its mostly me myself and I doing almost everything. Not even 10 hours/day seems to make a dent.

      If you know anyone who is interested in helping code and/or @dig, let me know. I need a partner damn it lol

      Its based off of Dahan Dialogue system. Menu driven. So you type one command ie: +step/1 and instead of +sheet/chargen or +chargen/set physical/height=5. Dialogues asks you "How Tall are you?"

      Also using the same system for droid chargen, combat, +fpower (force powers), +use/+wear/+load with our virtual item +catalog system, +workbench ala DoD, and a senate system similar to dod.
