@fatefan said in Coming soon: Lawless Space MUSH:
@golgoth I agree. Maybe I'll return to it in the future--but for now, it's dead.
I shelved SWR for a few years. Absolutely having a blast coming back to it, and I seem to be a lot more motivated. I wish you luck @fatefan

RE: ROGUE: It is coming...
These are very good suggestions.
SWR has 3 mandates.
-
Find a timeline that's unique. There are games played in canon, was an old republic game, and there have been several (that ultimately failed) based on rotj.
-
Find a plot that's unique. I know this may unsettle some players because it's not cookie cutter, but that leads to our third mandate:
-
NO FCS. Play what you want without waiting 6 months. For those who remember me talking up this game 2 years ago, our mandate was clear. No FC chars, no staff run special characters, not waiting in line to play the character you want to play.
These things are not easy, but doable.
We are having some fantastic chat and banter in our discord channel. We have settled on a timeline, we are just fleshing it out. I appreciate everyone in there giving their 2 cents and helping shape the game.
Join us @ https://discord.gg/RCTzbCr I appreciate all the help we can get!
Cheers!

RE: ROGUE: It is coming...
Lots to think about. I have looked at several instances over the SW timeline. Canon or Legends? Mando wars or 1000 BBY? 200 BBY? Whats the perfect timeline? Whats needed and/or wanted?
Not to be cliche, but if you have an idea or suggestion as for what the perfect timeline may be, come join my discord server https://discord.gg/RCTzbCr
If i'm not around, just throw your ideas out there. I'll be interested to see what ya'll have to say!
Thanks

RE: ROGUE: It is coming...
All absolutely fantastic suggestions. Lots of think about. I know it will not please everyone, but I know the potential is there. I'll mull this over during the week. Thanks again for the great responses. If you can think of anything else or would like to offer any other suggestions, please post away!

RE: ROGUE: It is coming...
So yes definitely that time frame setting, figuring out where to thus to allow the most amount of freedom while sticking semi-canon as possible. Right after the Hosnian Massacre is a great starting point.
@Bobotron I see what you're saying with one group and 1000 planets. SWR was always supposed to be that mush that allowed you to play what you wanted, not what someone else wanted you to play. That's why I always believed in an unlimited amount of FUs with limited FU abilities, which are already coded into SWNW.
The motto for SWR was always "If you want to play a Jedi, play a Jedi". Instead of applying after 6 months only to be denied by a staff member or his/her buddy. SWNW does have lots of organizations, but only 3-4 factions. There are lots of planets (easy to scale down to new canon though). DSpace is pretty good, which allows freedom as well as a shuttle system to keep RP in place. I think if we integrate easy RP tools (OOC Nexus planet room etc) it will help bring Rp to the players.
What I like about SWNW is the business/economy model. Black market, smuggling, bounties. If someone wants to start a shipbuilding business, so be it. Be a freighter operator, so be it. Manufacture weapons or armor, or sell a property, so be it. Or, maybe they want to be a trooper or a pilot or join the NR. I want a system that allows freedom of choice fitting into the theme, as well as the opportunity for players to have 3-4 different players they can choose from to RP.
And my biggest rule always, no FCs. FC's are NPCs. No staff with FCs or faction admins. No favoritism, no cliquey inner circles, none of that garbage. That's been the dream for SWR.

RE: ROGUE: It is coming...
The things I needed to get done are done.
Question is, the theme. Is a game based on the new movies/canon still plausible, or is another timeframe/canon frame better? Also, one of my biggest challenges was porting SW: New Worlds to Rhost /w HSpace. I love Rhost, but it was a little too challenging for me.
If I stayed with a familiar base such as SW: New Worlds, would that be a benefit or a detriment?
I still have the website, the wiki, and the server. So I'm going to mull this over. If anyone is interested in maybe helping with this endeavor lemme know.
Cheers

RE: ROGUE: It is coming...
Before I shut this down though, I did want to show off my website a bit.
If any other SW games out there are interested in using my design, let me know

RE: ROGUE: It is coming...
I would absolutely consider that.
Heck I'd even continue to host it and swrmush.com is good for 2 years.
Do you know anyone who wants to take it over?

RE: ROGUE: It is coming...
BTW @Alzie I did finish the WIKI
http://www.swrmush.com/swrwiki.html
Although I won't be using it, can you take a look and tell me what you think
Also if anyone is interested in my design work or has a game that could utilize a website/forums/wiki like http://swrmush.com lemme know

RE: ROGUE: It is coming...
Too much work solo. I have a few other projects going on, but there are teams working on them so it won't all be on my case load.
I'm mostly switching back to MUDS though. Gonna put my mu* career on the shelf for awhile. When I have time I may tinker with SWR in a mud setting.

RE: TrekMUSH & Guardians of the Galaxy MUD
You've completely misread my OP and missed my point entirely.
My post was not a question regarding pay to play models, or creating a commercial game, or having CEOs and lead developers.
I was asked why it was relevant that I mentioned my friend had an entertainment company, to which I answered. It has absolutely NO bearing on my original facking question. My question was the interest and viability of a trek based game or a GotG based game. Not pay to play. Not a subscription service. A normal, regular, MUSH or MUD than you can connect for free.
Sheeeesh.

RE: TrekMUSH & Guardians of the Galaxy MUD
Yeah I deserve that. I apologize. 3 days of server migration and I guess I took it out on you.
