Two random thoughts:

1. As non-GM staff on Chontio, I felt like FFG was rough. I stuck to storytelling via my NPC or staff PC characters, because man I found the advantages and stuff to be an extra layer of difficulty. I imagine experienced GMs have an easier time with it, but I was very much lol no.

2. I thought it was really interesting that even though we had no restrictions on playing a Force Sensitive character, not everyone did! In fact, I would guess that most characters did not. I have no point here, I just thought it was interesting. Maybe it was our setting and theme?

Maybe this is true for a lot of people, I don't know, but I've been known to joke that "I'm not in this hobby to read or write" but honestly... I mean it. I am in it for the in depth storytelling and character development. Narrative over long periods of a character's life. I don't actually enjoy writing (or reading tbh) that much, I just find that this is the setting that best allows me to do those things. Maybe it's just because I'm old and set in my ways, and discord or whatever would be just as good, I dunno. I do know I can't personally find it in table top or mmorpgs.

OOC rooms confuse and frighten me.

I never played a game with them until I was many years in, and was accustomed to having private rooms to idle in. I have never gotten used to them and have ultimately left games because there was no other option. Channels are for chatting. So I don't really care if there IS an OOC room, as long as I don't have to be there.

Dragonsdawn was my favorite, as well. But I was also no older than 14 the last time I read a Pern book so I dunno how much this means.

I read everything that the game provides. The wiki, or helpfiles.

I'm not buying a book to play a Mu*. If the game doesn't provide enough detail for a new player, I'm out.

The idea that people are owed forgiveness/that forgiveness is a moral imperative, is rooted in a lot of misogyny.

No one is owed forgiveness.

That doesn't mean everyone can just be a jackass to everyone who has ever wronged them, of course, but you don't have to forgive someone just because you "should". Be civil or stop engaging, but honor your feelings.

I still miss it sometimes. It was my favorite of my initial trio of Pern games (Dragonsfire, Harpers Tale, and Starstones).

I was mostly a HT girl, SS was my side gig. I also played ... DD maybe? Dragons Dusk? Was that a place? But I couldn't begin to tell you who I played. Oh! They did a like, Bachelor-style mini plot. I was the girl who won.

There was a Dragons Dusk. I briefly played there.

I was on Harpers Tale for a long time. Dolphin Craft for years and years. Went back for a time later and had a bronzerider.

Zai (Zali) was a Dolphin Crafter before she Impressed. God, that was so many years ago.
