Oh, I wouldn't take away Oldtown and move everybody. Doesn't really make a difference, family-size-wise, as the Hightowers likewise a smaller family base. I was considering adding Starfall as a second location, 'cause people seem to very much want that in spite of actually understanding that dividing the player base between two settlements is a Bad Idea (tm), and Starfall is the closest Dornish place, travel-time-wise, if you take a ship.

RE: Game Suggestion
Well, it's got a lot of lords and ladies stuff. Fortunately, it's not Blood of Dragons and thus people don't expect you to be an obsessive ASoIaF fan or to know every little thing about the world, which is very detailed but not very far off the 'generic low-fantasy' mark.
Huh. @BigDaddyAmin, people keep wanting me to add a Dornish setting.

RE: Game Suggestion
If you're not on GoB, well. It doesn't do badly (as small games go) in terms of having people around at odd hours. But your description of the small game you're on could just as easily match it.

RE: New GoT MUSH?
@Apu
Naw, the former. Game of Bones is my one, and is ASoIaF. As far as I know, those are the only ones to have happened.

RE: Searching?
I am mystified by it, as a search for "Game of Thrones", quotes included, gives me a bunch of messages that include the word 'of' but far from all the messages that include the word 'of' while seeming to ignore some of the posts that include the word "thrones." Fortunately, this forum isn't invisible to googlebot, so you can search it that way and have it work.

RE: New GoT MUSH?
Nothin' to do with me.
I'd suggest that anybody doing a GoT MUSH should be prepared to display the proper degree if indifference to Lindaaa.
BTW, besides Steel and Stone and that one other that was GoT-ish but not GoT, what other GoT MUs have there been? What became of 'em?

RE: Batch edit?
That's sensible, but in this case I get some mood and RP mileage out of the various messages. With your help, this was an easy fix, and it wasn't a necessary one really. And it's given me another bit o' skill, and that's good to have. Thanks, folks!

RE: Batch edit?
Ahh! Thanks. Naw, the message isn't on the parent. It's not on every exit, either, but if I search for it and it's not there, well, it won't replace it, so all good.

RE: Batch edit?
Eliminate a repeated error in exit messages. And know how to do this sort of thing so that later, when I set it up, I can change room descs to reflect seasons.
-
RE: Batch edit?
Bugger. It doesn't work, because the parent I've in mind is actually the exit parent, and MUSH doesn't treat it like it does other parents....

RE: Batch edit?
What does the ## substitute for in your line?
edit: Oh, wait, nothing? Just itself?

Batch edit?
How can one do @edit (all offspring of parent obect)/attribute=string,newstring ?

RE: Hell-Ban MU
This would be awesome. Though the page-lock message wouldn't work -- it would take banned player a short time to determine that everybody on the game was refusing their pages, and then they'd make another mole to whack. If it just appeared that everyone was ignoring them, better.
Huh. What if your Hell game caused anyone whom they paged to appear to log off immediately, giving the banned player the impression that they had amazing powers of being annoying, and had destroyed the game.

If you want to read trashy, violent smut and smutty, trashy violence, that's fine and more power to you, but don't wave it around like a fan and tell me misogyny and rampant, cynical misanthropy capped off with a woman being raped by a garden weasel are barbed and insightful social commentary about catholicism.
I have not read Ennis in years and quite liked him for a laugh or three, but this is such a perfect description of my ex's relationship with Ennis, and indeed, art in general, that I am really annoyed that my upvote button isn't working right now.
edit: Ahh, there it goes.

RE: Mac Client Recommendations?
Can anybody tell me where Atlantis puts it's damned addressbook file, so I can just open it in terminal and grab all my passwords? I've forgotten them, of course, and want to transfer the info to a second computer, and as far as I can tell, one cannot unmask them.

RE: Welcome to Night Vale OTT/Short MUSH?
The surrealist world of Naked Lunch makes the protagonist very ill, or maybe he's ill to start with. The magical realist world of Marquez stories is just home for the characters. That's an important distinction, especially in the case of making it a MUSH. Though it's probably totally unnecessary to voice this distinction, 'cause people who play would be fans of the show, and will now that without needing to know that there's some sort of classification system for art and literature that draws a distinction there.
