RE: Good or New Movies Review
Saw Zootropolis, was a fun movie. Continues the recent themes of handling social issues (thinking of Inside Out handling mental health). It is very clearly about discrimination, but it doesn't overide the fun of it I find. The fox being a snarky jackass was my favourite, of course.

Visualising Enviroments
So as a Storyteller I've recently been trying to try out new and different things, one of these are trying to make combat a bit more fun (for me as much as the players). And one thing here I've ran into a bit of trouble with is visualising the enviroments.
As in, put all actors in a scene in relation to eachother. Where am I? Where is my friends? Where is the bad guys? Where is there cover? Where is there items of interest? In a lot of TT things this is done with the mapgrid and so forth.
I mainly ST for World of Darkness, which classically does that less. Especially in a MU* enviroments. How do people usually try and handle this? Just try and describe it as best as possible? Using map programs outside of the MU*?

@Miss-Demeanor Yeah, I don't quite understand that either. Basic hygiene seems like it should just be a thing everyone does. Maybe I'm just really anal about it, but I tend to shower multiple times a day, especially if I'm working out or something sweat-inducing. That's another thing that kind of bothers me, the people that go to the gym or go running and just smell like that awful human stench all day. It's not even BO, it's just that stale, stank skin smell.
Well supposedly there is some middle ground, I shower every other day or so unless I go to the gym or whatever. But I also somewhat subscribe to the notion that people overdoing the washing, sterilizing, hand sanitazing etc is part of why we're getting more allergies etc, and that we need to come into contact with some of the stuff.
I also live in Sweden rather than some humid jungle hellscape though.

RE: What's That Game's About?

Let me, now, contrast Changeling: The Lost. In Changeling, you are playing someone who was kidnapped and escaped. They agree to hang out with other survivors and they have one of four basic philosophies on what to do as a survivor. There is also no substantial penalty on not choosing a philosophy. As Courtless, a character has fewer super-powers to choose from. It doesn't have any roles besides that. The game is about being a survivor, and that makes Joe Blow, Sudden Scarecrow, a lot more open.
: Whups, you're a vampire! You are Joe Blow, Sudden Malkav-- oh, I see where I'm going. Malkavian. There's your role. Are you going to play it?Now maybe I am missing something here, but to me those roles are just as prelevant in Changeling The Lost as in any other gameline, instead of Clan, Auspice or Path you have Seeming. A Fairest is inclined to be a spesific way, there's sections of books dedicated to describing how Fairests are, just like there are for the others mentioned above. It's the attributes/qualities that are inherent to the thing you were turned into.
Then we have the society organisations in form of Orders, Tribes, Covenants and Courts. And just like you can ignore those and be Courtless, you can be a Ghost Wolf, Apostate etc. And just as well as there are expecations on a Blood Talon to be a spesific way (I do not think it is, since 'warrior' culture is a very broad theme.) a Winter is expected to be a certain way, and you'll certainly have people who say you're doing it wrong.
Am I overlooking something major? I very well might be.
I can agree that Changeling as a game is open-ended with what you want to do with it, Werewolf has their -duty- which their gameline is about, but in that regard Werewolf is the exception, not the rule. No other gameline has that sort of thing that I can think of right now.

RE: Cultural differences between MUDs and MUSHes
@Kestrel said in Cultural differences between MUDs and MUSHes:
Is this normal? Do many MUSHers have an aversion to conflict-based RP, and/or take the stance that character behaviours should be altered to cater to harmony with other characters?
In my experiance, yes, very much so. I do not think it is a good thing.

Who even speaks with the cashiers.
I do at my grocery store, but then again they're my neighbors and we get blasted together sometimes. I also say hello to them even if they're a complete stranger.
Seriously, what's wrong with speaking to whoever you happen upon? Most people I know do this.
Seriously, there is nothing wrong with it.

RE: Cultural differences between MUDs and MUSHes
My only real issue with public scenes is I am not generally a fan of scenes after a certain size. But that's an issue with me, not other people. If suddently it grows from 3 to 9 I'll just quietly take my leave at a pace that makes sense. I've never personally felt the need to ask or be asked about people joining them.

RE: Skyrim Special Edition (also, Mods!)
Frostfall, iNeed, Cloaks, Campfire.
I'm basically playing the game as a survival game currently being a Bosmer up in the high mountains trying to live of the land in the harsh and cold climate. It's real fun so far and it gets real cozy.

RE: Shadows Over Reno
Just in reply to anyone who might've mentioned the scene that I had to cancel on Alexander, entierly my fault, I ended up having to do an study all nighter the day before so I was sound asleep when I had scheduled it.
So apologies about that.

RE: Skyrim Special Edition (also, Mods!)
Pick "Camping In The Woods" will start you just outside the cave you exit at the end of the tutorial, with Alduin flying over. It's basically the vanilla start without long ass cutscenes.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
Guess that's what sells now then.
Although I wonder how that is a good marketing name. I guess because of the recent wave of pride in being overweight?

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
I'm just gonna express my gratitude that my chest it not considered sexual and I am free to just wear trunks.

RE: Yourself As A nWoD Character
Just to go on a sidetrack, I always have difficulty seperating the Occult and Academics skill in World of Darkness, beyond 'real' supernatural information.
Especially with stuff like religion and mythology, like is knowing about Lilith Occult or Academics? Or knowing Medusa was a serpen associated female creature that turned people into stone by looking at them.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
I honestly just find jeans where it fits on the waist, and if they're too long I cut them off and just sew a new hem myself. It's not hard.

RE: Changing Breeds: Durgar's Blessing
Severed limbs are generally treated as a seperate thing, in Werewolf and I believe Vampire it requires a WP dot to be spent to regrow it. In Mage it can only be done with Life 5, and only for a limited amount of time.
WoD is kinda weird with how damage is represented since only a few very spesific instances of powers or fighting styles actually literally say you remove limbs. The Aspect in question can obviously heal agg with ease, but severed limbs as mentioned is generally treated as a seperate issue. Any Werewolf can be healed of agg with Rite of Healing, but you gotta spend the WP dot to regrow an arm. A Mage with Life can easily heal agg, but it's a Mastery spell to regrow limbs. etc.
So I would question him posing that, but I am also a little in the way of, it's just flavour text basically. How many cool ways can you pose getting torn apart without actually getting torn apart.

RE: RL Anger
Any time you punch someone because of 'what they are', be they black, male, white, gay, disabled, a veteran or a Nazi - that's a hate crime.
The latter two are not to my knowledge, I believe a hate crime only falls under the legal categories of sex, ethnicity, disability, language, nationality, physical appearance, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation.
However, it is always assault unless you are defending yourself.
