For me it smacks of the same irritating bullshit that came about with Changeling in owod: Yes, there's already a fae realm, there's already fae, there's already rules for interacting with it. But we're going to ignore the shit that already exists because FAERIES.

Whatever people think about it, there's already info, playable characters, etc tied to demons in Possessed. Angels and Demons already had an (admittedly shitty) entry in books for the system.

"Play our new game, featuring fallen ANGELS as DEMONS! Except not the demons we've already covered. And not really angels or demons at all, except that we'll call them that and they totally act like it and look like it but it's not that other set of demonic things, it's totes different."

They could have called it pretty much anything else at all and saved me about fifty pounds of derision any time it gets brought up.

To be fair, that is what Possessed was to me and why I dislike it. We already had angels and demons explained, they were spirits. A demon would be a spirit of something we'd view negative and they were fully capable of possessing people and do demonic stuff. And then they introduce Possessed which doesn't really add anything.

The Gentlemen Bastards by Scott Lynch.

A refreshing fantasy series which focuses on a small band of thieves with distinct and entertaining personalities. The world itself comes off as quite unique and well realized mixing, themes which I personally have not often seen in Fantasy. For example a clear inspiration taken from the Sicilian Mafia and generally organized crime beyond what one typically imagines for a fantasy setting, also highly varied depending on where in this fantastical world they are.

I would describe it in a way as what people today call "low fantasy", as in magic generally is not highly involved in the series. Atleast to a start, and the more fantastical and magical elements are not the focus as much as larceny and the art of the con.

The books handle relationships, both romantic and platonic in a wonderful way through highs and lows dealing with a band which are sworn together against the world. I would especially praise the way in which Lynch handles the central romantic relationship of the series. It boldly points out flaws, issues and problems with how the characters act towards eachother. The main character's romantic interest is also, to me, an intriguing and very powerful female character who is also quite well realized as much as she plays into and sometimes inverts various literary stereotypes. Although I will say, she as a character is introduced properly later than the rest although very much present throughout.

The series is a planned to be in seven parts, and so far the first three books have been released. The last being in 2013, so it has been a long wait. Each has an overarching theme which somehow makes use of their criminal talents.

The Lies of Locke Lamora (2006) is a revenge story.
Red Seas Under Red Skies (2007) is a heist story.
The Republic of Thieves (2013) is a spy story.

What I miss of owod Werewolf and Vampire is Pentex and Sabbat. God do I miss those. In nwod, God help you if you want to play a 'bad' vampire. You will be staked. Then burned on a bigger one.

Sounds more like a MU* issue than a game one. Requiem is filled with 'bad' vampires (Also, all Vampires are fucking horrible parasites), it's just with the exception of the Brood and VII it doesn't come with a big WE'RE THE BAD GUYS sticker. It's more about individuals. I rather like that.

I really appreciate the friends I have that are able to take the irregular occasion of me fucking up or being a dick. And come back from it and things being as they were, I feel so many people these days are very unforgiving in that regard.

I also recently learned I can make more complicated sandwiches at home. Who knew.

We should start with defining what we view as good political play amongst PCs, so we are discussing the same thing.

I think it is a wonder of consumerism that I can go to most any country and shop without needing to know the language or speak a word, I put all the stuff on the thing, they scan the thing, a number pops up (long as they use arabic letters I'm good, hell most of the time I don't need to know how much it is exactly) and then I beep-boop card or hand over cash.

      Done.

      No words needed.

I've finally managed to set up a proper corner in my home to paint where I can also have my laptop present and used. So now I can watch shows, MU* whatever while painting.

My productivity levels are way higher suddently, on both fronts.

I'd reccomend The Prince of Nothing series by R. Scott Bakker. The Darkness That Comes Before being the first one in the series. It's High Fantasy but less generic than a lot of things I myself tend to see. I rather enjoy it.

Just to give an opposing voice. I've been on the game for a a week or two now and I have had no bad experiences at all. Obie's new as a game runner, and some of the changes to rules maybe aren't wholly thought through but to me that isn't some cardinal sin. Obie's been wholly welcoming to any questions as far as I can see, and has been accommodating to every person I've seen. Taking suggestions freely, asking for opinions on many things.

When I wanted something on my sheet changed he was glad to do it, when people wanted to try STing in the system for the first time he took the time to actually handle all the complicated commands for ST in the scene. Whenever people talk about running stuff he is very encouraging and even asks for tips and tricks to make his own stuff better and has taken every feedback I have given him to heart so far.

I didn't see any of the problems mentioned above so couldn't opine about them but I've seen nothing bad on the side of staff on the game nor from the people.

The Long Earth, written by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter.

I think it's a very nice mixture of Pratchett's famous strange and humerous meeting Baxter who is a rather hardline so called 'hard sci-fi' writer. The premise is a new technology which allows access to parallel universes, each with a new and usually untouched Earth that gives an out and a new frontier for people, now that the original Earth is overpopulated as it is. But who knows if these parallel worlds really are as identical as they seem?

I find it rather funny and intresting, and was a good read.

That's actually something he's mentioned. Some guy talked about him needing to do more ads, and he said he was fairly happy with the amount of people he has now and doesn't want to be overwhelmed. Which was a positive to me, shows more awareness than many people I've seen.
