@Olsson I do like "flec" and "shards" that the game in general made up and got approval on. (Housed in the Arx Lexicon.)

I sure love passive-aggressively doing the "looping Bob back in!' thing after they drop him from the first email I looped him in on.

@Goldfish Yes and yes! There's an organization called the Whispers, which are like the best courtesans in all of Arx. And there are totally male courtesans/Whispers. Very egalitarian society.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand going to court tomorrow over this rent thing. Because I got the summons or whatever to answer the thing or else get a default judgment, and it was the Friday before the holiday weekend and my check was still in transit so I went in to be safe, and now I guess even though they have all of the rent owed we can't not do the hearing or whatever at court. In my head, I know it's going to be okay, because they literally have all the money, but Jesus Christ I'm stressed and ashamed and terrified because court and I'm supposed to be an adult.

I make prolific use of places in situations like this, yeah. Sometimes you get spam, but I still find I can contain the more serious scene to tt. And I'm not shy about nudging other people to tt if it's clearly appropriate from their poses. (That is: three new people are all sitting at a different table/the bar together.)

RE: Pokemon Go
@VulgarKitten My office is on top of a PokeStop and someone put a lure module in it. It was very nice.

Honestly, I tend to be welcoming enough in public scenes 75% of the time that I don't feel bad if 15% of the time I need to hide in places when other folks enter. And if there's more than one new person about, they can clearly just RP with each other, so I don't feel bad about that, either.
How do you handle the spam though since not everyone is using a place? It's usually my problem... well, that and people reacting to everything anyone is saying, so I have 6 people trying to talk to my PC at once which gets pretty weird if I try to visualize it.
I, uh. Maybe skim the spam in case anything important happens but mostly just respond to the stuff happening in my place. I'd probably pose discouragingly enough from other people trying to talk to me outside the place. (Like, flash a quick smile, but clearly distracted with private conversation, etc.) Eventually people will generally stop trying to engage with me and just engage with the other folks there.

RE: Pokemon Go
Took a train up to New England to cover an event for work today. Got out of the train station a little after 11 in this quaint little city and found a whole bunch of people hanging out in the little park next to the station clearly playing Pokemon Go. Kind of amazing.

RE: Superhero Games: Quest For Villain PCs
@Ghost They do make that joke in one of his solo titles at one point. (Rich may or may not be my favorite ever. I may or may not have a Nova tattoo. My icon may or may not be from original artwork of him by Kris Anka. I may or may not love Rich a lot.)
Then again, you'll pry bisexual Rich in love with Peter Quill from my cold, dead fingers, and I 100% played it on a MU*, so.
More on-topic, I imagine the reason a lot of superhero games don't have villain PCs is that a lot of games don't want to be that hardcore PvP.

@Tehom I would posit that if people are struggling with current systems due to poor documentation, then clarification of current systems to ease use WOULD be more important than implementation of new systems that will suffer the same problems as the current systems. Ensuring that your players know how to easily navigate systems and files is probably one of the bigger things that should be prioritized (and often isn't).
I have to agree here. Commands and systems shouldn't actually be considered finished -- or ready to launch -- without good documentation. It should be considered one complete package, not an addition.
That said, we're now crowdsourcing writing up clearer documentation, so.

You can't take a road trip in Pennsylvania. PennDOT has all the roads under construction.

Random pet peeve. People who don't seem to understand that you can combine an action and dialogue into 1 sentence with a comma.
She smiles. "Hey Jane." She looks around. "Where is everyone?"
She smiles, "Hey Jane." She looks around, "Where is everyone?"
Something about that genuinely bugs me and will make me think less of you.
Um that's not grammatically correct though.

That isn't grammatically correct. You can't actually just make those into one sentence because you can't smile words. Or look around words. Your pet peeve version (the first one, where it's four sentences) is the one that's actually correct.

RE: RL Anger
@Thenomain No, Admiral was saying they watched the trailer with OMFG's Hello overlaid and it was an improvement.
-
RE: Roleplaying writing styles
@Tempest I'm sorry. If it makes you feel any better, your grammatically incorrect version is one of my pet peeves.
But yes, the rule is that if you're using a comma to introduce or close dialogue, your verb has to be something that can actually speak the words. Says, yells, exclaims, murmurs, mumbles, etc. Otherwise, it should be a period.

RE: RL Anger
I'm hoping that she ends up better than she's been in the trailers, especially because Harley was originally created and written so smartly in Batman: TAS.
I wouldn't go so far to say that Harley was ever written smartly, but she's one of the more interesting creations out of B:TAS. And, yes, B:TAS made Batman better.
I'd say that she was a good look at a woman in the midst of an abusive relationship who eventually found her way out of it.
