RE: How are you coping with COVID (and other 2020 fun)?posted in Tastes Less Game'y
I missed a scene today because:
a) I couldn't remember whether or not I had canceled my RSVP because I didn't actually think I'd feel like RPing after all but I thought I might keep the spot just in case I somehow did.
b) I got the time COMPLETELY wrong and,
c) I unexpectedly had to go get a COVID test. And if that's not muing for me in a nutshell right now I don't know what is.

RE: For anyone who might be struggling with the hallmark holiday tooposted in Tastes Less Game'y
I had a really good relationship with my mom. Yeah we fought but in general, compared to what a lot of people have to deal with...I had it really really good.
She has severe vascular dementia now. I’m on my way to see her. She will know it’s Mother’s Day when I tell her. She will forget before I leave. The woman who raised me isn’t dead, but she is gone and she’s not coming back. I’m still lucky...she still knows who I am and she loves me but it’s still hard to come to grips with.

Reading about how boring chaacters that never bat an eyelash are, thinking about how much fun it is to freak the fuck out ICly and how you haven't gotten a chance to do that in a while, and then getting to do that.

@aria This is my dad's nugget of wisdom for this kind of situation.

RE: A Regency MU (Conceptual)posted in Mildly Constructive
@pyrephox Building on this a little bit, upper class women in the Regency period gambled too, and some ran gambling establishments out of their homes. It was socially acceptable so long as they paid their debts. So that could be something fun for the ladies.

@meg Depends on your definition of 'cool' but here goes.
'Cari' was my staff handle on Second Pass. I wanted to use 'Cecie' which is something I go by on a few places but there was already a 'Cecelie'. So 'Cari' was a second choice for a very specific use-case.
This story's better...when I worked at a community college I would get notices whenever there was free food in the Library fridge. I told my husband this one time before dashing up 4 flights of stairs to get an ice cream cookie sammich before they were gone. He likened this to the Hunger Games and called me Snackness Everdeen. And lo! A much better handle (that I use in other places too).

@Alamias Saaame. I tell people all I do is google how to do things but no one believes me.
It's also taken me 20 years to realize that every single website is held together with toothpicks and bubble gum.

When a scene goes totally off the rails because my m* bff forgot a really important thing about my character and everyone just...rolls with it and is amazing.

My issue, as the OP, is not that I don’t know how to lose weight. I do. I am doing the things. And it’s not that I can’t lose weight. I can.
It’s that my grandfather is an asshole and made me sad this weekend by fat-shaming me and even though I know he’s an asshole and I was halfway expecting it, it still sucked.
eta: However, the Muppet Christmas Carol cures many ills.

I'm thinking of playing someone who works in a used book shop. One of those places full of book piles and cats and fire hazards that looks like it should be long gone but somehow isn't.
Also chipper.

RE: If you work hard, son, maybe someday you'll RPposted in Mildly Constructive
I was pretty bummed to realize elsethread how many people hate scheduling. It’s an extremely rare case in which I can just do pickup rp. I don’t like it either, but it’s kind of schedule or nothing for me at this point.

RE: Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?posted in Mildly Constructive
It’s a bit like having a conversation IRL. If I’m trying to tell you something important and I see you’re distracted by other people I’m not gonna demand that you only pay attention to me. But I’m probably also not gonna want to talk to you that much in the future.

Maybe this could get forked to another thread? It’s WAY off topic.

@Arkandel I got the impression that was more of a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' kind of not-winning

The flu shot does not prevent the stomach flu, because the stomach flu isn't actually the flu or anything like it.

I am capable of being a wordy poser. I don't really have a problem with others being wordy posers (within reason). But it's so relaxing sometimes to have a nice snappy scene that rolls happily along with 1- or 2-line poses.
