    • RE: MSB: The meta-discussion

@Misadventure I think there's a couple things. One is objective criticism. Certainly, some behavior is objectively fucked up. (I just read the Batshit Crazy Sightings thread today.) But more often, I think that someone gets upset at a perceived slight, rants, and the responses are subjective. Ideally, calling out behavior could be objectively discussed, and something constructive can come out of it.

Idealism, and 'boring.' I get it, well, I get that will be the majority reaction.

The other... if more people realized their shit stank too. The overall sense is that people are quick to shit on things, and not remember the times they were the problem. There's little empathy. But, see my mid point note. I get that's not the point.

Now, I haven't read much outside of the Hog Pit, though I'm starting to. And the more I see, the more I see the potential of what others have already said - A place for real talk, a place where people can't face retribution (well, not in game in theory) for their opinion, a way to see and discuss different perspectives. I will say it's fairly intimidating as a new poster.

I only ever trolled on WORA or played devil's advocate. So far I feel like, for the most part, MSB is more conducive for actual discussion. Or maybe I grew the fuck up. I also haven't been here long.

How many people are active on here? In the few places I've read, there's a smallish group that's vocal, then another layer of semi-vocal. I have a lot of presumptuous thoughts that I'm thinking through - specifically about the echo chamber and hypocrisy as a result - but they're not fully fleshed out and require more interaction outside of those topics. But MSB is a significant improvement over WORA in my limited experience.

(I'm also shit at the interfaces, especially on the phone.)

I think a place like this is fine, but can easily become a toxic place, excruciating if new people get shit down. I get that not everyone plays nice in the sandbox, but I think a lot of games can benefit if the discussions don't devolve into just shitting on things. I haven't seen that thus far, to be honest, which is good.

I just finished last night. I enjoyed it? But not likely enough to re-watch. It suffered not only from not being the other shows, but from having so many random storylines, it was like they played Netflix Series Pictionary and made a storyline out of each guess.

The Meachum kids became my favorites. Danny learned nothing, no growth. I dunno, I'm glad I watched it, but I'm not sure how Loras is going to hold his own against the others in The Defenders. I love Finn Jones, but...

I'm willing to forgive them, though, for this much weaker showing if Punisher is really going to get his own series.
