Yeah, we tried it out of morbid curiosity and instead left impressed with it and thinking we had the pizza sizes backwards. (We got the duck pizza in medium and a large more generic pizza as the main deal because we genuinely didn't expect much from the former.)
-
You know what sucks? Being Cantonese and allergic to beans and legumes.
I hate you so much sometimes.
-
Holy fuck! How do you live!?

On a large pile of money, with many beautiful ladies.
Seriously, the saving thing is that soy sauce is so heavily-brewed it doesn't trigger my allergies. Otherwise, I pine for the days when I could eat Duck Two Ways until I barfed.
So, yeah. I hate you. But only because I envy you.

OK, so much the same as me. Cool.

Man, I was kind of "meh" on duck until I came here and found out the myriad of really tantalyzing ways in which it's prepared. I pity you. Note: not sympathize with. Pity.
So, yeah. I hate you. But only because I envy you.
So ... bad time to show pics of my "count the variety of beans in this meal" meal?
-
@Ganymede: This was today's lunch. Please tell me again how much you hate me. Justโฆ let me loosen the belt and get ready first.
And the accessories to the criminal enterprise.

@WTFE I had Mongolian hot pot last month so I actually know what that is. It was pretty good.
-
This is Sichuan, but basically similar, yes.
-
Heart attacks are God's way of punishing people like you. I hope you have one in front of your family.
(No, I actually don't; all of that looks delicious, so I hope you and whomever you ate it with enjoyed the shit out of it, honestly, I'm a total foodie.)
You know what blows? I used to be able to eat beans. With impunity. But allergies change over time. And now you know why I don't pull punches.
-
On the bright side, there were only two items there you couldn't eat then. The black stuff in the middle rank of 'accomplices' is a form of ่ฑ่ made with ้ป่ฑ instead of ้ป่ฑ while the cream-coloured stuff at the bottom rank far right photo is so-called ่ฑ็ฎ and is the skin that forms while making ่ฑ่ skimmed and cut into strips. The rest is all stuff you could eat the ever-living fuck out of.
Just โฆ uh โฆ don't go down on your SO after using the red broth. That red broth had so many Sichuan peppercorns in it my lips were tingling two hours after the meal.
-
Generally, I avoid Sichuan / Szechuan food. They often conceal rogue nuts, at least if made in Canada.
-
I love watching when deaf people talk to themselves.
Not to see what they're saying, but because it's good to know that it's not just me.
-
My noodles were so hot at lunch that I still have that spicy burn feeling around my mouth after driving back to the office. Yet no garlic or ginger flavors were sacrificed in my food in pursuit of lighting my mouth on fire. A+.
-
Emailed professor to apologize in advance for missing class tonight. Prof responds, gives me an extra day for homework turn in (what a nice guy).
Get homework turned in on time anyway. WHOO.

See the pictures of my lunch above that I was taunting @Ganymede with? Note the weird bowl separated into two broths, one red, one white? The red broth had so many Sichuan peppercorns in it that my lips were tingling two hours after I left the restaurant.
Hi, @saosmash, pleasure to meet someone else who appreciates a good burn!
-
@WTFE Alas, I found my hot pot a bit bland. The spicy side was spicy but not to any real degree of after burn. And while it was good, it definitely needed salt and some more seasoning. The place was /packed/ with people though and mostly various Asians (unsurprising since it was in Chinatown) so it must be a good example of the cuisine.

I got to have a three hour goddamn nap this afternoon. Best. Thing. Ever.

This is why I love the pho place by my house.
