[Ethnicity Thread] Who Do You Think You Are?

I love Houston. I get tired of the instant Texas hate that is very popular on the Internet. I'm from a city thankyouverymuch. Redneck types in rural New York tried to mock me for being redneck. Excuse me? You have a farm. I come from the city. Try again.

Seriously, though, as a Washingtonian... I don't think anything bad about Texans. Well, Houston could use some work but I don't hold it against you all.
I was born in the boonies not far from Spokane, which is as hard core redneck country as ever you will find. It amuses me that the crunchy granola Seattle thing has become the predominant Washington stereotype for people outside the state.
-
Please, you're all weird americans.
-
I'm 100% Chinese, and was raised in Canada until I was 23.
-
@Three-Eyed-Crow You have it on the west side, too, once you get away from Seattle. Hood Canal, I'm looking at you. Plus you have all the logging communities. And down south, the farming. So basically, everywhere except the Seattle-area.

White. Painfully, stereotypically white.
-
I like Texas as a place. The weather is goddamn crazy, though. Or at least, the weather I experienced was.
-
Hahaha.
A few months back when California was LOSING ITS MIND about the storm coming up, the one that rams a fist up their ass every seven years or so and floods everything, I was visiting. People were just, holy shit, it was like Doomsday Preppers over in San Francisco. And me and the Filipinos in Daly City (45 minutes to an hour south, so just as hit by the rain) and my college buddies from Galveston and Houston, we're used to fucking hurricanes, cyclones, and other matter of Biblical shit. So we were like "Wow, it's Wednesday."
-
I musta missed that. Was that the week where we thought it might rain somewhere?
-
It was in December, around December 18th.

My maternal grandfather was a Sub-Saharan African male with jet-black skin. He married a half-White, half-Native American woman, producing my mother and her sisters.
My maternal grandfather's ancestors were also Sub-Saharan Africans who were put on a ship and taken against their will into slavery.
I don't know about my maternal grandmother's family, other than that they were bigots who disowned my maternal grandmother for marrying a black man.
Therefore, my mother is half-black. She is lighter in color than myself, but she identifies as black, after a lifetime of being called The Black Girl, at the insurance company she worked for.
My father's family are all 100% Indians from India. They were all Indian peasants who grubbed in the dirt. I don't really care about them; they more or less disowned my father for marrying a non-Indian woman.
Indians: so racist.
I have no exciting ancestors; I am not descended from Jesse James or Washington.
I am the child of slaves and peasants.
I identify as a black person because I have dark skin, plump lips, a large nose, and when White people or East Asian people are angry at me, they call me "Nigger".
So. I am one of the black WORA Members, along with @goldfish .
I like blonde white females and east asian females; let's get that outta the way so we can move on.

Some trivia:
In my 25 years, I have had the racial epithet "nigger" directed at me by:
- Whites
- Chinese
- Japanese
- Hispanics
- Native Americans
Yes, I am, in fact, keeping score. I am indeed one of those Tremendously Bitter Black People who sincerely believe that other races are openly hostile to us.

"nigga" != "Nigger".
One is an endearing term (that should be phased out).
The other is a hateful racial slur.
Also, I hope to god you don't use the word "nigga" . Like, at all. Ever.
Non-blacks who use the term need to have their shit slapped hard.
You don't have a lot of black friends, or you would know this.
-
@Cirno I know, but the point is both don't mean shit or shouldn't. I have black friends and friends of the ethnicities you point out.

But not a lot. I'm willing to bet money on these two things, too:
1.) Your friends of other ethnicities most likely avoid your black friends. and would never invite them to their houses.
It's a subtle form of racism, not letting black people in your house. It is frequently practiced these days, too.
2.) You probably avoid going to their neighborhoods. I wouldn't be surprised if you did, though.

Dude, I live/work in Compton. Let's do the math...

White people love to know they're part Native American. I don't know why, but they love it. It's at least one thing to say you have some blood and another to claim crazy bullshit, but even that gets irritating. I have mocked and unfriended idiot white girls who are 'super in touch with their minority status' but don't even belong to a tribe. Stop it. Just like I told my cousin to stop when she found out we qualified for stuff. Shut it. You're white as hell.
I think it's in part because we don't have any culture. Yes, arguably we do but it's not 'cool' so white people try to find other things to 'be'. Also, it seems to be a way to skirt racism. Look, I'm not racist, there's brown people in my ancestory.
I come off as very very white. Like clueless white suburban bitch, despite the fact that I've had experiences otherwise. So that's how most people treat me. It's less about what you are and more about how you're perceived. My half Irish half Sicilian best friend is often taken as Mexican, even by Mexicans, despite the fact she's white. She just has dark skin. @ThatOneDude is white to me, but he's not really likely considered so in the eyes of some. There's a lot of technically white people that white people don't consider white.

You only call me white because I'm well educated and successful! q.q
edit: And additionally... In Cali I'm just another hispanic that probably can't speak english and am probably illegal or a gangster of some sort and when I fly... Oh lord, even with TSA Pre I'm RANDOMLY SELECTED!
