Critters!

But this is just a cat I am trying to train into behaving at night. Most cats know what cat-mom sleepy time is damnit!
Mine do not! I was definitely woken up at 3-4am this morning by loud purring and a fluff ball nuzzling insistently at my face. Then I half consciously petted her, fell asleep, was half woken again by more purr nuzzling, repeat until she got bored or tried to bite her sister's head or something.

Ike will sometimes wake me up. However, I also know that I get night terrors and cry in my sleep sometimes. I think when she does it, it's to sooth me. Because she'll push and nudge at my head until I wake up enough to wrap my arms around her and we snuggle in and go back to sleep with her purring and snuggling me.

@auspice I am pretty sure that mine are doing it because they want head scritches. Of course they are still kittens so they are very much at the stage where if one of them decides she wants to roll around stretching and receiving head scritches she might keep at it for two hours, or she might be distracted because something made a noise or moved and zoom off without a second thought.

If AJ would stay still for them, it'd be OK. But he flops around and bites and jumps around and and....
there's no cuddling in AJ world. None. Ever. He jumps and leaps and clambers and flops and claws over your shoulder and tangles in your hair and leaps at the window and climbs up the blanket you pinned up because he tore up the blinds and shredded the curtain.
This cat is a year and a half old.
You'd think he might have an iota of chill.
-
@auspice I am pretty sure that cats just do not stay still for being petted, mine do not at least. They have to get up, rearrange, stretch, try to gnaw off my shirt buttons for some inexplicable reason, cat things. I have mostly managed to teach them that thumbs are not chew toys through.

Today, kittens judge me for not letting them into the wardrobe:
-
The kittens have worked out that my setting up a towel means that they are going to get their anti ear mite drops, which they hate.
However investigating dangled shoe laces is much more important than hiding under a table and ear drops are followed with ham.

Because I am spamming this thread, here is what I woke up to this morning:
Apparently I make a good bed.
-
@packrat Your cat looks a little drunk and a little crazy in that picture. Like it's got a good buzz going and wants to start some shit.
-
@admiral I think she was just waking up and perhaps not too pleased with it, my stirring was spoiling her perfectly comfortable and seal heating bed.
Right now she is hunting and eating spiders,
Added: Just had an Amazon delivery and now they are both going nuts with the packaging, which has gotten them SUPER EXCITED. Lots of zooms.

We brought home a kitten 4 weeks ago (Long story short, father in law's girlfriend MIGHT be a little... derpy and thought 2 year old female cats can't get pregnant WTF) and it's been awesome and the toddlers love her. Her name is Ceri, though I want to call her sigourney because she pops out from under couches, jumps on you from her big giant cat tree, and on top of high things and just gets you. But I was denied. Damnit. Even her tail is like the aliens.
Anyways. We picked up our son from his grandfather's and found a home for the two other kittens that were in that litter. We wondered if Ceri would recognize them. So we put them on the cat tree while waiting for the new owner to come.
Sniff, sniff "BROTHERS!" and back to playing with them like she hadn't been separated for four weeks. Gnaw, chew, smack, bat. They all started rumbling and tumbling for the hour it took for their owners to come. I'm glad they're up here and close by. Now we get to sit them and they can all party together.

Black kittehs are best kittehs.
Mine has been snoozing and cuddling with me all morning.

@surreality She's terrible. So terrible. It's adorable. She climbs the screen on the back door then can't figure out how the hell to get back down. God forbid you don't get her wet stuff for her at 6pm, she is in your face. IN YOUR FACE. Our Calico abhors her, the dilute ginger/white just kinda looks at her, will give a lick and then he kicks her out of the tree so he can sniff out her leftovers. She lets the kids lug her around without complaint (and they put her down if she does) and she has tamed any and every dog who has come in the house.
@Auspice I missed having a black cat. We had one many many years ago. She's honestly been a hoot. She likes to go in the car even. Silly cat. Though she was outdoors when down south, so you have to be careful leaving the house because she will hands down bolt (jesus she's fast) and then sit so proud that she got outside. It's been nice having a kitten in the house, and hopefully she bonds with the kid now that he's home. Because the dilute didn't bond with him and he has lamented that the last two years.
-
I need some good feelings right now. Our 18 year old cat just passed away. At least he was being held in our arms when he passed.
Goodbye, Biffers. You were such a good cat. I'll miss you so much. Go be with you brother Zeke, sister Callie Mae and adopted brother Porkchop.
-
I'm sorry. At least you were there with him so he passed with much love.
-
@bobotron Never easy. Big hugs.
-
@bobotron I know those feels, I held my Winston when we put him to rest. All the good thoughts.
-
Aww, at least he had a long and it sounds satisfying life.
Also here is a kitten in a box:
-
@bobotron All the hugs in the world. I am so sorry.
(Here's hoping that we live good enough lives to get to go to cat heaven, y'all. Sunbeams and yarn to play with and naps and piles of purring flopsy fluff and headbonks for eternity. <3)
