So I officially retired my old daily wear hoodie this year. I've been wearing it for 10? years (unless I need a heavier hoodie or a full coat...) and it's just... it's stained, the elastic at the cuffs/hem is worn out. It was time.
And to replace it....... I got the Crimson Days hoodie through the Destiny 2 rewards through my tax return before, y'know, I got fired. It arrived today and it's perfect. It's a darker purple than it looked like on the site, which I <3. I got just the right size. It's hella soft. It's not too thick (so good for living in TX). I love it.

I didn't start playing in time for that event. They need to bring that shit back.

@Auspice I went FWC because it got me the most time around Shohreh Aghdashloo's voice acting.
Her voice is magical.

SHE IS WHY I WANT IT BACK.
Every time I run past her on Traveler and get that little snippet I wanna cry because HER VOICE ACTING IS NOT USED NEARLY ENOUGH. -

I have been reading The Expanse since around the time the second book came out. All the characters had unique voices in my head as I read, including Chrisjen Avasarala.
And after the TV adaptation started, when the next book came out and I started reading? I just heard Shohreh Aghdashloo instead. I literally cannot even remember what voice I used to mentally hear for Avasarala; it has been completely supplanted and I can envision no other. That did not happen with any other character.
Her voice is just sooooo good.

I love her so much.
I watched season 1 of Punisher and it was like, 'Madani, you listen to your mother, SHE CAN POLITICALLY MANEUVER THE ENTIRE GALAXY YOU KNOW.' -
In all seriousness, she looks and sounds so much like my amazing shrink from high school, too, so it's like... extra time. So adding to the love pile.
-
She will always be Admiral Shala’Raan vas Tonbay to me.

Thank you, helpful tall dudes in the grocery store. My tummy would be an emptier place without you.

@Tinuviel Sure. I'll take your beer.

When things come together just right and that first sip of coffee in the morning tastes literally perfect. Just the right amount of grounds, blah blah blah. It's the simple things.

I am disturbed by that nose waggle.

I brought my new guinea pigs home on Sunday, and as expected they've been hiding and pretending I don't exist.
The younger of the two (she's 7 weeks) came out to eat while I was stuffing her ball with hay. It was the first time I'd seen her face since the day they came home. Naturally, I am elated. She's a beautiful, lilac sheltie with vampiric red eyes, cannot get enough of that haughty little face.
She did a fairly thorough exploration of the enclosure I built, and for this I've named her Freya.
The older of the two (she's 11 weeks) has been giving me her ass to kiss - literally, she burrows and leaves only her furry butt visible. Granted, she's a long-haired Peruvian, so her face and butt look a lot alike, except one has stunning dark blue eyes - and one doesn't.
Edited to fix the breed names I mixed up, whoops.

...when even fucking New Jersey owes you money back. Fuckers.
But truly, fuck NJ for taxing your pre-medical insurance wages; many states don't. As a result, any penny they have to pay us back is and we never end up having to pay the state we actually live in a dime since they credit for NJ's greedy graft-riddled ass.
-
@surreality Man, I hated NJ taxes until I had my kid and that EIC kicked in. Take my money all year, it's fine. I'm terrible at saving, I just consider my refund money in the bank. Though if we actually earned interest on the amount NJ 'borrows' from us annually, we could all probably retire early. It's criminal, really.

I know I'm often cynical and all growly at people, but a lot has happened in the last couple of months that has done so much to restore my faith in my fellow man.
As of last night, I am over 25% to meeting my GFM goal and am at almost 50% to where I need to be to be able to afford all of the parts needed for a new streaming rig. The generosity of people never ceases to floor me.

I really really like my new company and coworkers! The learning curve is---well, a lot. But it's ok, I can do this. First time in my life to have full benefits and corporate matching! So I feel cool now
-
Also I have not done my hair, put on makeup, and picked out a real "outfit" to wear every day since like 7th grade. So I still feel like I am playing dressup.
