Dealing with bad actors

Branching out a different conversation here.

Maybe produce some proof of a person's wrongdoing before advertising their identities and making serious allegations against them on a pseudo-public forum -- while laying out in elaborate detail what other games should do in order to ban this person.
I have no horse in this race. Personally, I maintain a belief that there are three sides to every story: one person's, the other's, and somewhere in between? The truth.
This could be handled a whole lot more maturely, and with a whole lot more class. Just saying.

@Scorn I don't think anyone was named in this thread as a 'bad actor', and this is meant as a reactive measure for when dealing with certain players. I get what you mean, branding with a scarlet letter and all, but there are nonetheless some trolls that will simply troll to troll, as well some players after breaking rules and getting to the point of ban do not like to take a no means no.

I'll add a bit of a "quick version" for TinyMux...
@boot *Person
would get the hypothetical horrible person off your game. You can then@newpassword *Person=newpassword
to effectively stop them from connecting again. Though if you're feeling extra petty, you can instead give them the @Thenomain special, and do:@boot *Person
then@aconnect *Person=think Why am I like this?; QUIT
That looks like a person being 'named' to me. Tack on the fact that individuals from the game this supposedly went down on have, three times now, sent 'emissaries' to my game to 'warn' us about this person and strongly urge us to ban them -- based on what amounts to hearsay, as no logs have been produced?
I stand by my initial assessment. This could be handled with a lot more class.

Now, should said misogynstic asshole (who will remain totally nameless)
Redacted and Redactedare made up names as far as I know. Used as a proxy to see where one would use names when utilizing those commands in TinyMux.
ETA: Names redacted so I do not perpetuate any slights.

Yeah, no. That's way too on the nose.
WTF, @skew?

Whoops! Edited my post.

What.
This needs branching into another thread at this point (@Arkandel) but.... what? That's just not right.

@Auspice -- Pretty much what I've been thinking since it all started, yeah. I agree, though. I've said my piece, and will hold further comment unless they go yet one step further, and open up a separate thread.

Heh, I stand corrected. Just those names look like every third kid joining Minecraft or Roblox, I did not think those where player names on a MUSH. Sorry about that.

Since the original post was edited, you may want to edit the part of your quote that includes the names.

Some ideas are just too radical, Scorn.
Is it really our right to deny people their vindication?
(Yes, this is tongue-in-cheek)

Top to bottom, WTF is happening here?
-
ONE of the names used -- Shadow -- was one PC of a guy on Arx who was banned for creeping and stalking and then proceeded to literally stalk staff and players on social media, spent a lot of time connecting as a guest to hurl abuse in random pages and the like, etc. I did assume Skew was using that one to purposefully reference that guy, who was like a hugely overt terrible person. I am not particularly concerned with protecting that particular player's identity or whatever as his issues were numerous and well-documented.
I have NO idea about the other one or whatever situation Scorn seems to be referring to, which sounds different.

@surreality Oh I'd forgotten his username here also had Zombie in it, so both names might have been referencing him. He's the one who wrote this post when he got banned for stalking.

@Roz That makes a bit more sense, then. The only Shadow I knew of before that was @Coin, and he would never do shit like that.

It's always you!
