MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)

@theznar Necro I know, but I just wanted to say it was nice to read that about Star Wars: Uprising. I co-developed it with my old wizard buddy Tarison (I was Xenon, co-head-wiz), and it was easily the high point of my Mu* career. I'm glad others remember it as fondly as I do, especially those earliest days when I was still involved.

It's so niche and probably just me but I've always thought a game where the gimmick is that all characters are inspired by different songs would be fun. There would probably have to be an overarching plot or something maybe but yeah
-
@raeras How about if each has powers or abilities based on the song they are linked to? Take a cue from the magic styles in Unknown Armies, and songs accumulate magic based on content, and that magic can be expended in content matching ways.
It would probably have to have a lot to do with emotions and wisdom. Possibly ex-loves, lost pets and broken vehicles.
You could even get into alternate, dark or paradoxical reflections of songs as conflicting or contesting manifestations.

@misadventure That is actually an interesting idea! That sparked an idea. And now I have a google doc going for this MU* that will never be xD

After the Starfield game trailer and entirely too much time playing Mass Effect LE, I've been thinking outside my usual superhero niche and been hankering for some 'classic' sci-fi.
So, perhaps a Traveller game set in the 'MegaTraveller' or 'New Era' settings? The fall of the Third Imperium or the post-fall struggle to rediscover and rebuild interstellar civilization? Allow for alien races and psionics. Should incorporate a wide enough variety of themes for players; combat, politics, L&L, exploration, building.

@runescryer When you said 'Classic sci-fi' I was positive - and a little hopeful - that you meant, like, Flash Gordon.
-
@runescryer I will require that you use the old Mercenary/High Guard/Scout/Merchant Prince to generate life events for plot arcs. Death/discharge optional.

Trying to get away from my other niche, which is Star Wars. Flash Gordon is more Space Fantasy than sci-fi for me.

Right now, I'm trying to sort out the mess of system designs. I got the latest version of Traveller 5, but holy crap, that system is near indecipherable...
I'll probably just go with TNE, since I'm looking at that as the setting, anyways. So, all that material should be doable or already included. Also looking to adapt Aslan, Vargr, Zhodani, and possibly the Denaar for PCs. Hivers as Staff PC (since they're running things Just As Planned). K'kree have huge entourages as PCs. And Droyne also have the link to the Ancients that make them potentially problematic as PCs.
