I dislike they way they abuse their players by putting themselves first
Abuse their players, wow. You know this isn't actually the first time you've made this metaphor, and at this point I'm thinking you have some unresolved issues you need to see yourself through.
I'm sorry, did someone open a game to their liking and others' of their own free volition, during their own free time and free of charge, which you didn't like, when you were younger? Child abuse is all too common in this day in age. As always, boo, we're here for you.
That's a bit of a stretch there, but entertaining.
Look, people, again, I don't like the way they run games and I had a few free minutes to thumb tap during a smoke break about it. If you don't agree with my opinion, then move on. They have a pattern of what I feel is selfish behavior and I think it hurts the hobby.
Value my opinion or don't. It'll be the 4500th most important thing you did today. We aren't curing cancer here; we are a bunch of internet text based roleplayers who use former BBS/UNIX shell type environments to rp being wizards and stuff.
I have an opinion. Yay. We'll all live thru this, I promise.

@Auspice If you mean that I'm playing a Dumbledore who posted some snide shit about people I don't like and then a whole bunch of people went BarkBarkBark and I'm doing the WhateverWeWillForgetAboutThisNextWeek thing because my original post of HeyGuysIFoundSomeIntel! was probably ill-advised and a bit FuckThoseGuys in nature...and now their buddies are having a GhostIsAShitheadFest and I'm eating it for the next 2-3 pages of this thread???
Then, yeah, I'm probably a Dumbledore at the moment.

The 'me too' pillowforting is real.

I'm pretty sure pillowfort is a loaded term for some folks here.

Dude, your obsessiveness with trying point out how 'bad' some people are reaching Crino-levels.
It's more akin to Big Daddy Amin and his visible-from-space hate-boner for Firan.
-
My original point stands. If self-centered people continue to open and run games, this hobby will eventually die. This is a pattern of behavior that I think current players should be keyed into.
Take it or leave it.

Or people can just play on servers they enjoy and let others have fun on the servers they enjoy. We get it - Blue and Seraphim's games just aren't your bag. Certainly warn others of the perceived errors and problems they have, so people are aware of what they may be getting into, but let's hold off on the torches and pitchforks, especially since it's an invitation only server.

People have been predicting the death of MUSHing as a hobby for what, the last ten years or so?
Pretty sure these two aren't going to be the ones who finally take Old Yeller out back and give him mercy.

Of all the many problems with people in this hobby, I don't think setting up private games that are straight-up private sandboxes is one of them. If anything, given the track record of the staffers, this is probably what they should be doing.
If I'd been a long-term Fifth World player I might be put out by the game reappearing in that fashion, but meh.

Yeah I was just posting about this when you wrote that.
I'll back off of this and pipe down; this clearly isn't winning me any popularity contests. Life and games will go on whether I think it's worthwhile to play their games or not. I'm not playing on their games and will let their current players hold the lash on any bitching. It's their fight, not mine.
Also, for the record, I've heard they're very nice people RL and I wouldnt be doing this if I didn't hope that they'd get out of that cycle of making everything about themselves, because they are very creative, active, and tend to run games with interesting themes. I think, with some control-related tweaks to opening games up to player input, constructively, they could do really well.
Hindsight20/20 leading off with that would have been more constructive and made me look less like a trolly cunt.

As someone who played on Fifth World until the end...
I'm sorta put out, I guess, if it's being revived in a private sense? But that'll only go beyond "oh... meh" if I find out any of my chars are being utilized. Which, I'd hope people don't do. That hate in my world still sits with Witchcraft and Wizardry (seriously why require people set whether or not they would allow their char to be rostered if you're just gonna ignore it anyway?!).

I was so fucking weirded out when I saw an old character of mine being played by someone else there. Not cool.

Yuuuuup. When I asked about it (as my 'last will' thing had been set to have the char fade out / be used as an NPC), I was told how 'Well, I decided it'd be better if she continued to be played.'
So, really. Until someone tops that BS, I'm cool with whatever. Even re-opening an old game for private play.

Your lack of popularity does not mean you are incorrect in your conclusions.
No one liked Lorenz Oken either.
-
@Auspice @Three-Eyed-Crow I tend to agree that if they have something that gives the option, and the option is ignored, that's pretty impressively crappy.
There's the 'for the good of the game' argument, yes, but. If that's how it's going to be handled, don't leave the option in place.

Yup. And it's actually QUITE apt in this case, too. @ghost isn't wrong. He's being an idiot about presentation, but he isn't wrong.
