People might have been referring to your prior posts in which y'all were kinda being dicks to each other

There's a plethora of reasons but seriously there's no real reason either of you should've carried it on this long, but at this point... You're the only one who keeps on keepin' on. I get the frustration, ire, etc., but there reaches a point where you aren't going to get through to people.

Those people are going to bait you. That is their entire goal. And every post you make with a 2000 word count is another notch in their headboard. It's another win for them. Just walk away.

Like I said: I am tired.

My current takeaway is that it is OK and even encouraged for people to insult me all they like, but I cannot respond in kind, cannot explain my perspective in any manner -- with or without insults -- and cannot even apologize without being made out to be a bigger monster.

I do not know anyone that would not frustrate.

@surreality but consider also that people might be asking you to stop because it is easier to get one person to stop than getting three. Simple numbers. I think most of us at this point don't think any of you are right or wrong.

Any soda that has corn syrup in it tastes godawful on certain migraine meds. I do not know why. It is manifestly unfair.

@Meg Hate to say it, but when I'm getting dogpiled and every mound of insults slung in my face is upvoted to the heavens, it's pretty clear that behavior is being cheered and lauded, not merely deemed acceptable. And, again, I can't even fucking apologize to someone without being a pile of shit for doing it. Doesn't exactly incline me toward being terribly apologetic or forgiving.

Guys, uh. We are treating each other like humans and such. There is zero need to dogpile him; please don't. What he ultimately did was hard, and it was a good thing. Anybody angry with him on my account, please be aware that very awkward fence is trending toward mending, and that I would sincerely appreciate it if people didn't pour fuel on any perceived fires in that regard. He's not being a dick right now; please do not treat him like he is. Let's maybe try to let the few small decent human beings gains going on survive, at least in this case.

I would be grateful, and grateful enough I will go fuck off for a while and STFU, ok?

I should clarify that where it seems unfair is when I go to the movies.

They do not sell real-sugar sodas at most theaters, and who doesn't want a soda with their movie? Even just a kid's size small one? If I take my migraine meds, though, they don't always taste right, and if I don't take my migraine meds, I'm not going to the movie theater anyway because my head will be splitting.

I've successfully cut soda out of my diet...except for the occasional Coke with 4realz sugar. There's a hole-in-wall taqueria by my apartment which sells it and it is one of life's pleasures. I think Costco stocks real sugar soda, too.

Can someone explain to me why apologizing in the apology thread is a bad idea? I'm not trying to be snarky or snide. I legitimately don't know, being as I'm relatively new here. From what I've gathered in my five days or so on MSB, most of the forum activity revolves around arguing about who started it and who's stopping it and whether or not we can call people cunts, and.... I dunno? Apologizing seems like it would resolve most of those things maybe, I guess?

You don't have to be. I don't ascribe to the philosophy that anyone has to behave in any specific way in these forums. People will either like how they behave or not, myself included, but that doesn't mean they /have/ to do anything. I am sorry there is dogpiling, which is always a rough thing to experience on these forums. (I've had it happen and had to throw up my hands and be like THIS IS NOT THE HILL I WANT TO DIE ON and stop posting for a while in that thread.)

I just think the battle is already lost. People have already heard all the arguments and decided their own opinions, one way or the other. Without actually introducing new things to the thread, it's just gotten old, for me, at least. (I don't want to speak for anyone else.)

Agreed. He did a good thing. I am glad that he started actually speaking and then got to the point where he apologized. Auspice may or may not have him blocked though, and perhaps couldn't read his posts. Which would suck, @shangexile, and be frustrating, but please consider that too. You don't need to defend yourself. There's people that appreciate what you've done and approve, whether you care or not, and there will be people who won't care, whether you care or not. Such is life.

Anyways, I have a migraine and I'm going to go lay down before I cry.

So...this isn't me drudging up old history, but it was originally started by me around the time I was quitting mushing for the (~~8th~~ ~~9th~~ ~~10th~~ ~~11th~~ whothefuckknows) time. I had some regrets about the way that things went down and I thought that maybe a thread for people to air regrets or apologies might do the community some good.

Well, there was a discussion about what what an apology is and isn't, suspicions about whether some apologies were genuine or lip service, it kinda turned into a thing, but I think it's okay now?

I was more joking when I said to not post in the thread. If it works, it works, but like all things internet forum related, tread with caution, I guess?
