Is the Hunter homebrew? It doesn't have a 2e book. And I'm guessing Geist uses what's been released to Kickstarter backers?

It seems to work okay without the www: obsidianreverie.net

Hunter: Mortal Remains (IIRC that was the title) is a full-on 2e update for Hunter; anything not covered there is probably covered in the 2e books for mortals.

It looks like the website address in the original post needs to be updated to: https://obsidianreverie.net/
-
Does anyone know who is running this game?
-
Address updated! Thank you all for that!
@Auspice We are using the Mortal Remains update for Hunter and there are some homebrewed aspects to the compacts as well as some tweaks to some endowments. and yeah Geist is using the Kickstater backer but should be available to the public in the next week or two from my understanding
@Admiral Myself and a handful of others are running it but i'm handling the technical aspects and stuff.
-
@Raeras Sorry I should have been more specific.
Who are you? I don't mean it bluntly but we are a small community and folks like to know that you aren't VAspider in disguise.
Just a bit about yourself and your staff would be helpful and draw a lot more interest from folks.
-
Is this actual NWOD mechanics on Ares? Or Ares mechanics slapped on NWOD theme?
-
@Admiral is this a thing we're doing now instead of supporting new game creators? Accusing them of being VAspider in disguise? lol
I'll vouch for @Raeras . She is good people.

I won't necessarily vouch for the game in general, and I have very limited exposure to the rest of the staff on this game, but @Raeras is not VASpider.
wtf have we become
-
@Tempest We're using Google Sheets at the moment actually for character sheet keeping and utilizing web portal primarily for everything else because we've transitioned from a discord server. Coding a whole system for Ares is out of my realm of expertise but if one ever comes into being we'll transition to that.
@Admiral I have no idea who VASpider is xD. I have been into MUSHes for maybe a couple years. Give or take. I very briefly was a part of Fallcoast and Reno but my primarily play was on Calaveras and now Grey Harbor and a couple other Ares sites. My other staff don't have too much experience with MU* aside a couple of them giving Gray Harbor a try too.
You (and anyone else) are welcome to join us on our Discord server if you'd like to get to know us more
-
Thank you both

Question for @Raeras - is staff saving copies of sheets? Is it on a trust basis to make sure people aren't cheating/altering their sheets?
For others: I know some people are really hesitant to share their email, personal info, etc. Sheets are hosted on your GDrive. So you may want to look into a spare/MU-only email address if you play and are concerned about your email being seen.
-
@Auspice They link the sheet in their additional notes in CC and then we make a copy of it on our staff google drive. As it stand now We'll be handling XP spends/ updating earned Beats and the like. The sheets will be embedded in the background tab so only the character and staff can see it/reference it (but then people can choose to make it public if they wish)
It's a system that will likely be refined over time some but this is what we came up with for the start. Seemed like the easiest way to go about it.
-
Even if W/C/nWoD is not my cup of tea, it should be interesting to see how this adapts to Ares over time. Definitely ambitious, and I'm hoping it works out well!

@Jennkryst this is your cue
I wish y'all the best luck! I would love to see a thriving CoD Ares codebase.
-
@RDC I think https://obsidianreverie.net/wiki/customs will have the information, eventually. They're probably still porting information over from other sources.

Was holding off a bit so everyone won't just shit all over my undying (hyuk yuk) optimism.
BUT SINCE YOU HAVE SUMMONED ME...
Obligatory plug for Mummy (and other Immortal types, since they now technically a Mummy Subgroup).
