I'd like to think that people get together on MU* or forums to share a few stories and celebrate the memories they have of someone who has passed.

RE: What Would it Take to Repair the Community?
@simplications so avoid discussions critical of players and staffers at games? Or just of attaching any sort of suggestion as to motivation or psychology?
I will say that I understand why anyone would avoid the Hog Pit, but I will also say to characterize it in any fashion without direct knowledge seems difficult. If you want to say (these are made up numbers) that even 10% malicious unfounded statements are too many, that's fine.
How would you like to see someone make a post where they want to say X player on Y game created multiple characters in an attempt to secure RP with them after I told them I wasn't interested? Is suggesting a Queen Bee mentality too far? Is mentioning unwanted contact is for the purposes of sexual RP suspect?
I hope you see what I am asking here. I'm just asking you (though others are welcome to speak for themselves), because you are having an idea, and I'd like to see it fleshed out.

RE: How do you discover books?
@reimesu nah, that's exactly it. It's an elected, not bloodline position. Breha Organa is queen of Alderan, I assume for life or thereabouts.
I will say that if you ever so much as like an author on Facebook, you will get increasing offers for free books, free books on joining a newletter, or books for $.99. That's not a bad way to be exposed to fairly random things. I've even had it come around to authors I know, and who are fairly successful.
I grew up reading many of the "classics" and that included books recommended by Dragon Magazine (and others) as well as RPGs.
CJ Cherryh was a staple of mine, and I have I don't know how many series of hers left to try. It may come across as too dry (also as head trauma starvation theater).
I also dig the American Fabulists or whatever you call Tim Powers, James Blaylock et al.

RE: RL Anger
I'd tell him to check his own ego, and to step down from leadership for a year, say NOTHING about the leadership or direction for a year, and see what he learns. If he can't do that, it's about his ego, and not his God.

RE: LFS: Eclipse Phase MUX
With remote sleeving, you just need to be within range of remoteing or transmitting to a body to be "in the same place".
It's almost like everyone who is within a minutes info transfer distance is in the same place, but really its that anyone (or their copies) can be inside of a certain radius and still interact with everyone else's extensions.

Sometimes it's "... not because they are easy, but because they are hard, ..."
Sometimes it's The Sunk cost fallacy.

RE: The Apology Thread
@Miss-Demeanor I think he apologizes for his decisions.
I do not know any details, but it sounds like he said "It's IC for my character to do X." Someone said "X really bothers me on an OOC level I can't deal with your character/you the player, if X is the decision you make IC ."
Maybe it's rape trauma. Maybe it's polyamory vs monogamy, maybe it's "my character thinks of a life of magical soul distorting slavery is worse than death".
To me, here, actions which are "good", the lesser good, yet still good, were placed up against what has now become the greater good, being kind about someones issues.
So no, the action of "keep it IC" stays a lesser good idea. The context shifted, where there was a greater good to be done, and he didn't recognize it. And now he does.
I really don't know, but I wouldn't want to assume and shut down people trying to apologize because they didn't phrase it to not just their targeted subject, but to me, and anyone else.
I'm certainly not going to apologize to anyone publicly on this board now.

RE: Stranger Danger?
@Ghost
Its been said that the human brain cannot distinguish between imagination and reality. Seems fair, given that everything is in the brain, and we can fool ourselves or be fooled for a long long time.If you believe that people can have strong personal reactions for public images, or characters in a book or film, stands to reason it would be fairly common for there to be bleed. In a way, that IS the point, to have investment, sympathy.
It's a question of self awareness, and managing that bleed.
I'd like to suggest that even if a player is completely separate from a character, as we imagine an author or tactical player might be, there is still the reward of collaboration, and the ease of familiarity, which is still an in to a players emotions.
Be aware, and manage it.

RE: Street Fighter The RPG
The hidden playing of cards is a way to emulate predicting or reacting to your opponent's moves. It's referred to as yomi in some circles, so if anyone is looking for ways to get that feeling with something other than RAW Street Fighter, that term may help you find some inspiration.
You'll also find at least one martial arts fighting card game by the same name.

I am scarred and angry forever for the time I will never get back from watching the dumpster fire that was Sucker Punch.
We can never be friends.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
You can say "The situations and behaviors you describe as damaging? That's how I describe the worst behaviors of my ex. Please be wary."
Also: if he starts wanting you to account for your change from purchases, run.

RE: Fallout: Montreal
I would think that if anything it would make a mockery of American culture because in this case it will be a mockery of American culture trying to represent another culture. Or I would say that if mocking cultures isn't the sense of humor someone has, they wouldn't want Fallouts humor in the first place?
Or maybe people get serious. I know this pretty much shat on any interest I had in the idea. I'll leave it to the pros.
