Silly things you'd been tempted to do on/for a MU*
-
I once quit MUSHing.
Then came back.

I'm on the East Coast. For years all my partners were on the west coast. I saw the sun come up many a morning while still posing.
Yeah, there was a time period where I often stayed up all night all the time because my favorite RP partner worked nights and could MU from her slow paced job. Maybe it was silly, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Whenever someone says they're quiting MUSHing I feel like Ben Affleck talking to Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting.

I remember when I found the journal I kept when I began MU*ing a handful of years after the fact. In it, I found an entry I wrote.
I said something to the effects of: 'I found this thing called a MOO. It'll keep me occupied for a couple of weeks.'
ha.
ha ha. -
Back in the day, my PC's Pooka boyfriend and he went around handing out shiny new dictionaries to people on Yule. It was meant to be commentary, but I reckon they took it as a prank.

Famous last words.

@seraphim73 While playing on a Star Wars MUSH with really terrible fleet mechanics, I created a database of all IC ships, fighters, and armies. I learned Microsoft Access to do this. I included things like weapons and ammo so I could do quick cross-comparison searches. I had their current location.
And I updated the damn thing after every. Single. Battle.
I also once created a less fancy database containing important information about various Mass Effect worlds, like climate, who lived there, what species claimed it, how likely it was to have pirates or Prothean artifacts, etc. It was in a Google product I can't remember the name of now and it's driving me crazy that I can't remember it.
Come to think of it, I've done a lot of crazy databases. And spreadsheets.
ETA: GOOGLE FUSION TABLES! That's what it was. Man, I even prettied up the damn things: https://fusiontables.google.com/data?docid=1gkqaWh9ViKttXkqdi3-LMqaV0iezU_Q6p3CJLgg&pli=1#card:id=2

I bought http://kotohi.com/ryuutama/ and I intend to make a Mu out of it. Will anyone play it? Maybe not. But at least I can rest easy knowing that you had the option of playing on a Mush where your biggest concern was 'what's for dinner.'

The Theno came back. He just couldn't stay away.
Away, away, yea yea yea -
I am always tempted to play a character that is horrible in bed.
I don't because I wonder if it will result in no one wanting to RP with me.

I have a number of large and small MUSH concepts, including:
A Marvel NYC game centered around Spider-Man, with a combat system centered around environmental victories instead of straight hit/dodge damage/endurance.
A fighter jet combat system, for Star Fox or UN Squadron or another dogfight game, with free form IC pose range and high stakes for actually getting hit.
An extensive news file set for a spy MUSH with a Romance of the Three Kingdoms faction structure based on the Cold War and set in outer space, with a basic combat sketch of interlocking concepts.
A modern thief code sketch with five different mini-systems that connect with each other, forming a pentagonal game based on five math forms.
A combined Ghosts of Mars/Doom/Cowboy Bebop/Total Recall game set on Mars, Phobos, and Deimos, with news files written out, but no combat system dynamic elected on.
A nuclear summer theme set in Polynesia, with a unique theme encouraging an open ended futuristic piracy republic. No combat system written.
If anyone wants any of these write-ups, get in touch.

I had a character on TR who, for maybe a week, I would only pose in over the top film noir style narration. I eventually lost the ability to keep it up and I doubt anyone was happy I was doing it.
I still want to try it again sometime.

Once on a (modern) comic-book game, I played a character who'd been created as a loving homage to the Silver Age. So I decided that her dialog would follow Silver Age convention: except under extraordinary circumstances, every line had to end with either an exclamation point or a question mark (or both). It was fun, but also oddly exhausting.
-
I once had a character on a Pern game that was a mute. She carried around a chalkboard for quick one-word answers. She was an exercise in not relying too much on dialogue for my posing.
-
Characters that speak only in rhyme, meter, with a specific literary device, or only using grandiloquent phrasing. It's easy to fall in that from like having a few hour scene where every pose is only in alliteration or whatever, and then it's like, 'hey I bet I could make a character that only does...' no, don't.
-
I bet @Sparks would meet me there
And together be on a tear
So games all over do beware. -

Like do it again in a heartbeat if you went back to then in time or do it NOW because like...man I could not stay up all night to rp for the greatest rp on earth because I got old.

Do you wanna make a cliché?
Do you wanna drive them mad?
Speak in only song, it cannot go wrong!
(This idea's quite bad!)
