Steam's Summer Sale begins in less than 2 weeks. I want to personally urge all of our text-based gamers out there to please buy responsibly. We don't want to lose you to a pool of insanely cheaply priced (and amazing) games for 6 months. Remember to properly bath, get enough nutrition, and most of all read the review section on those games before you buy them. Lots of crap games on steam right now!

Don't abandon your text-based games for these pretty pretty tarts!

I still have games from the last sale I haven't played yet. I was pretty disappointed with Planetary Annihilation. I liked FTL though and also Starbound and definitely Darkest Dungeon.

I adore FTL. One of my go-to time-wasters. So many ways to murder sprites in the cold vacuum of space...

I secretly hope that the FTL developers make a multi-player server of it. Doesn't have to be multiple ships could just be one player takes each member of the crew like... Skies of Icarus? Guns of Icarus? It's an airship steampunk game.

I also hope the FTL developers make an ocean exploration game.

                  Sounds like Artemis.

http://www.artemis.eochu.com/ <--- This? If so FTL is a bit more retro but I'm checking out this website. Looks cool so far.

Yup. Artemis is pretty fun, definitely in an RL group. We played it at a convention a few months ago, with a set of touch screens and one bigger 'forward screen'. Was pretty boss.

There are mods for Artemis out there somewhere; my Dad has one that makes the whole thing look/sound/feel like Star Trek. You ain't really been smashed flat until you've run into a borg cube and realized there's no getting away.

I... actually already bought all the games I want. There's very few games left I plan on buying. Aside from the 40 still on my wishlist that is. 🚰

Steam has always been a decent attempt of "by fans, for fans". I think the EU has been pushing for this, so why not give it to everyone? It's a direction we needed to be going for five years now, and major kudos to Steam for raising the bar. It's things like this that make me think it's okay that there is no Half-Life 3.

Besides, Steam is not going to be out-done by flippin' EA and the mandatory self-flaggelation service known as Origin.

I'll see your horrible Origin, and raise(lower?) you a uPlay.

I think it's even especially awesome because they're implementing this right before the Steam Summer Sale. This, people. This is how you do loyalty to your customers.

Evidently it is a valid use of refund system to refund a game you bought at full price if it goes on sale before you cross certain thresholds. Confirmed by Valve.

                                        From that link:

Refunds are designed to remove the risk from purchasing titles on Steam—not as a way to get free games. If it appears to us that you are abusing refunds, we may stop offering them to you. We do not consider it abuse to request a refund on a title that was purchased just before a sale and then immediately rebuying that title for the sale price.

                                        that is FRIGGIN AWESOME>

why can't MU staff be like Steam? 😛

Some games I picked up on the Summer steam sale that I'd heartily suggest you look at if you like good music, good voice acting, and good story. Gameplay is moderate. Sale still appears to be going too.

They have the Risen franchise on sale today for 18 bucks. Risen 1-3 plus the expansions. Anyone who enjoys single-player, open-world RPGs should check it out. It's one of my favorites and it's a really good deal. Also, who doesn't want to be a bandit?
