Frustration: I have no goddamn clue how I'm going to do this popup show today.
Usually, there's 'setup day, show day, show/packup day'. This is all one day, condensed from 1pm - ??pm.
We've done one or two small things like this decades ago, but those were trunk shows at shops of varying sizes that invited us in. (I am old enough I remember when Macy's did this and we did them there for a few years, y'all. Can you imagine that now? Bwahaha.)

There is a small cut on my finger and I have NO IDEA where it came from.

If it didn't want to be used as it was, it shouldn't have been corrugated.

Well, cardboard isn't always corrugated and corrugated paper isn't always cardboard. But what saosmash and I do in the dark..........

My parents are coming to town next week. They are staying in my little one-bedroom apartment with me for a few days.
I am super anxious about this.

Oh. Oh dear. Good luck, and I mean that so sincerely. I get super anxious about my parents coming to stay for a few days even now, and I have plenty of room.

Mine have never stayed with me and my father can be a raging dick. He's, a) Mr. Right-Wing Christian Fundie, b) acts like the rules don't apply to him about anything, anywhere, and he's charming and narcissistic enough to get away with it (though the people around him aren't).
My mother is very sweet and I know she's very much looking forward to seeing me. And sometimes visits with them go smoothly, but I'm just very wound up already, though I'm trying so hard not to be.

@auspice tell your mom I said what's up.

I'm sure she'll appreciate that.

I understand. Neither of my parents are narcissistic, but both are super conservative Christian and I spend a lot of time trying not to roll my eyes around them and showing them the acceptable parts of my life so we don't just fight for days. It's a problem. I hope it's not as bad as you fear it might be, and that you get to enjoy the visit through the anxiety.

It's difficult. Esp. in the current political climate. You don't want a fight, buuuuut.
When we don't clash, things are A-OK. Outside of religion/politics, I can get along with them alright, but as soon as either enter the stage... oof. So here's hoping.

I don't know your parents, and I don't know you well.
But the instant my parents started telling and expecting me to act like an adult, I started to do that.
Adults don't tolerate raging dicks, and tend to deal with them with shovels.

Step 1: Tell them you are getting more serious about this whole bible thing.
Step 2: Show them your giant, framed poster of the verse Ezekiel 23:20. Say it gave you inspiration.
Step 3: Watch the internal struggle as they try and decide whether a bible verse is inappropriate.
You're welcome.

A lot of their religious pressure fell off the last time I let them take me to their church a handful of years ago.
As luck would have it, their Southern Baptist preacher decided his sermon that week was on SEXUAL SIN and of course his concept of SEXUAL SIN was homosexuality. And my parents went from pre-service and "oh we can't wait for you to meet him! We've told him how proud we are of you and and and..." (really? your daughter who works a full time job rather than 'raises a family' and is openly bisexual and lived in sin before marriage and...?) ....
I spent the whole service taking notes on every single passage in the bible that contradicted his entire sermon. My mother noticed.
We scurried right on out of there.
They have not pressured me on religion nor tried to get me to go to any church services with them since.
They know how I am. My father still opens his damn mouth sometimes.

People who think coffee is a cute personality trait.

@tek It's a biological imperative.
My peeve? My mother is visiting, ostensibly so she can "learn how I do things" for when she's housesitting for me while I'm away. Of course she has taken the opportunity to remind me just how many lovely young ladies there are that don't need a visa to live here.
I'm going away to see my goddamn husband and my in-laws, mother.

You could tell her about me.
... wait, I'd require a visa, too. And still punch her in the nose for being insensitive.
Oh well.
