Interest Gauge: City of Mist Game

I was just thinking in a similar vein (no pun intended)! The cities themselves could be patchy, with neighborhoods that are full-on Spookyville and others that are super mundane. ("Oh Jesus Kevin, lock the doors and drive faster, we're passing through Hell's Kitchen and I just saw Beelzebub.")

"If there's one thing about Santa Carla I never could stomach, it's all the damn vampires."
This reminds me of a throw-away line from Buffy, where this band is loading up after playing a set at the Bronze: "Man, I hate playing vampire towns."

@wizz That would be awesome. I think that honestly sounds like it could be a lot of fun. And to some extent -- more as observed by the complaints people have re: the way a lot of people play WoD -- something like this does seem like something people actually want and will and arguably already play (without having a proper fun home for it).
The town from Teen Wolf comes to mind a bit for this, too. They had some concept about ley lines or sacred sites/etc. drawing such things to the surface that could be useful to steal concept-wise -- something about the specific locations or something that is present there and draws out the supernatural (in this case, corrodes or destroys the veil).
There's an old HBO movie called 'Cast a Deadly Spell' that is the wrong period, but has some elements of this kind of blend going on. 'Lord of Illusions' is more on the horror side, but it has some stuff worth peeking at, too, I'd think.
(The quote is the closing line from Grandpa in The Lost Boys. )

I just ordered the rule book. Seriously, the more I read about this game the more I like. It's like Marvel Comics had a kid with Ravenloft and it was raised by The Dresden Files.
-
Becoming utterly mundane reminds me of that show on the Playstation Network: Powers. The lead detective dude lost his powers in a Big Bad brawl with Eddy Izzard. This seems like a game I could get in to.

It would make for a much weirder take on The Warriors. >.>

Every time this updates I think it is a Mistborn thing.

Which I'd want to play the hell out of.

Most of the lore for the Myst born is in URU, and the books of course, tho I don’t think that Cyan really does much with the world anymore.
Wait, what were we talking about?
(Nerd jokes!)

Looks like I just got an email for the official release of City of Mist on Modiphius.net and DriveThruRPG.com. This means someone should try and make it a MUSH reality.
