Why did you pick your username?

Puppies have nice breath.
LIES.
I've always wondered where the concept of puppy breath being nice comes from because all puppies who have breathed on me have had GROSS BREATH.
But I will fully admit cats have tuna breath.

20 years ago, my teenage self was trying to figure out a username. I am not very creative or good with names and somehow I ended up with an adjective for something menacing and dangerous - exactly how a surly, jaded, "misunderstood" teenager wants to be seen. I have used it all over the internet ever since.
-
@ominous Too many years ago when I faced the same dilemma I was like "yeah, I'll pick a cool Tolkien name no one will ever recognize is from the books since it's so obscure", so I picked Narsil. I used that as my internet alias for a while.
So it turns out so did many, many, many, many people. Arkandel it is!

My cat is named Goblin. He's awesome.
-
Lúthien Tinúviel, from Tolkein. I'm a romantic at heart, apparently.

They have to be still nursing. It starts to go away once they're weaning onto real food. But I can understand why someone wouldn't like it, too! Dogs, on the other hand, should ideally have odorless breath.

Back in high school a friend and I used to come up with Counter-Strike names during AP Chemistry. we found it hilarious that when someone was killed it would tell them "You've been killed by A Pack Of Wild Baboons"
I tended to alternate between the Baboons name and Ron Popeil's Ephinany for when doing clan stuff

@arkandel Not too many Ominouses out there surprisingly. Generally, if you see the handle, it's me or was me.

My throwaway email address is dontpander. For years I saw a stubborn refusal to be diplomatic as a good thing.
Dontpanda was born from that.

It came from the term "Goldfish grudge". A grudge that doesn't last because the person just...forgot it? That's how I took it at the time.
And that's me all day in this community. Last month's beef is highly likely to be called water under the bridge this month.I just have a hard time holding a grudge. I can count on one hand how many people I will never, ever associate with. (I don't count the universally awful, like Spider, for example)

This isn't really the name I use anywhere else, including the name I had on WORA/SWOFA where I was Bahimiron. When I came on here I wanted to be a little low key, so I picked a new name.
I picked The Once-Ler because I frequently find something I like and use it ruthlessly until there's nothing left but a barren wasteland and then I move on.

I had a Halfling Rogue on a DnD MU* named Taika Ovtings (Taker of Things).
-
I stubbornly embraced a RL nickname I was given by someone who was trying to give me a hard time. I "owned that shit" as it were, it became the online username I use in most arenas.
On the original SWORA I used Mspris, somewhere between there are WORA it went to 2mspris which is what I've used since then.

@arkandel Hee. I've used Carnil for a number of video games and MMO's over the years. That, at least, still seems to be obscure enough.
