Just how much spam is this?

I clicked on the link and all I got was all the spam.

I apparently was ordering a men's hoodie for $130 (on sale even!) with the following description:

        Men Hoodie

And gathering. Form for, gathering, female you'll blessed appear day us cattle
hath be moving face he Whales fruitful is spirit Beginning. Abundantly good
living Thing isn't stars saw over and earth dry rule herb bring image night, fowl
        their, third set saw for.

I can't tell you what it looked like, except for a 400x600 placeholder called "400x600".

        All the spam.

What is this? World of Warcraft MUD? The last one wasn't bad. Good luck.

@thenomain For me (I loaded the site through a clean box), I saw mudkraft is coming with a countdown of 155 days. Had some artwork of, I am guessing, Warcraft characters (On the right was the Night Elf with horns dude).

Strange. I clicked it again and yes, that's what I get. A whole lot of nothing, but pretty nothing.

It originally pushed me to a site called GodLike, where it was non-stop Lorem Ipsum, broken CSS, broken images, and the "you're ordering this t-shirt and this hoodie". I curiously clicked on the "hoodie" link and the previous description and placeholder image were there.

I think that makes your question, "What is this?" even more prevalent.

I got the godlike 4 template as well. And a lot of ads.

Ahhhh, I bet the glitched serving of the page hit my adblocker funner so I saw the ad templates in plaintext and mistook them as part of the main page.

Still, allowing somewhere with SEO text on a non-product on your page for the click-through revenue is...not a good start.

@thenomain Also if you are making any kind of profit from Blizzard's copyrights, you are not likely to have a very good time in the near future.

I got none of this. Thanks uBlock Origin!

Anyway, if this is a Warcraft MUD, I guess it coooouuuulllddd be interesting, but RPing Warcraft stuff was never something I could get into.

The interesting thing is that you can pretty much duplicate the way things work, you just can't use the names. Yet in text, the names are very important.

In US law, it's been determined that a single game mechanic (i.e., "Tapping") cannot be copyrighted, so while the entire assemblage ("work of art") may be, a lot of game companies don't fight it too hard until it becomes a complete copy. This is half of why PUBG never had a chance using "frying pan as a weapon" as a reason to sue another company. The other half was a gratuitous amount of prior art for games of its ilk doing just this. Not that a single item would mean they didn't have a chance, but the THIRD half is the gaming community was laughing them down from their high horse.

That's legit Blizzard artwork though? Maybe I'm confused at what this is, but I don't see how they won't get in trouble and fast.

Well, how much effort did Blizzard direct at the vanilla servers being run illegally by players?

Imagine how much directly copied text your average World of Darkness game uses.

No, we're all on the verge of extinction with just one person giving enough of a damn.

On the other hand, I don't want @Fantom to think we're dogpiling, and am curious what he has to say.

@misadventure Quite a bit. I mean, you could run one privately and have friends on it and have nothing happen. But any that were publicly available they went after like stink on a monkey.

Activision, last year, went after a text-based RPG-style mobile game about Destiny. It had ZERO micro-transactions, everything was paid for and developed by some guy who was doing it as a passion project.
In that case, though, Bungie stepped in and it was allowed to run (I suspect that the creator had to prove he wasn't profiting and there was likely some behind the scenes stuff going on).

Would you look at that. I saw the little popup that tells me that some of their stuff is from WoW. Neat.

So does this mean I'll finally be able to get back into WoW RP after my favorite server was shut down by actibliz?
