Force Users are selected by the admin, to fill limited slots, the number of which scales with the size of the active playerbase. Being a Force user is a responsibility that comes with a few caveats, the long and short of which is that you must be active, submit quality logs, be regularly nominated by your peers, and generally prove that your selection as a Force User would be a boon to the game, not a hindrance.
I know nothing about you or your game but this caught my attention, so I hope you're willing to answer a couple of questions about it.
When the issue with feature characters (which it sounds like Force users would essentially be) with unique abilities and special powers the rest of the playerbase can't have, how are you planning to avoid the possibility these are viewed as either staff-alt or staff-friend only spots?
This is not necessarily to slight your intentions or perfect willingness to be fair in the selection of who has one of those rare, coveted positions. It's just a matter of human bias - we value what we perceive, so if a perfectly great player just happens to not have been seen by a member of staff then their chances of landing this are pretty low - unless of course you have a devised a smarter system to select these, in which case I'd be quite interested in hearing about it.
Generally speaking I dislike feature PCs. I hated them ever since we were using 'book characters' back in the day - they represent a manufactured, often arbitrary two-tier system between your 'good' players and the rest; but who wants to be placed in the plebs-pile? However I also understand if a game wants to keep some things rare - obviously claiming Force users are extra rare is redundant if the grid is full of Force-using PCs. So if an implementation manages to balance these two factors correctly it'd be something to look at.

A Star Wars game I was on a few years back did an application kind of thing, for Force users that opened new spots every now and then. You could app Good, Neutral or Dark, if I recall correctly. As a player who considered going that route, and didn't, I never really felt that staff was playing favorites or anything like that. I think the Star Wars environment itself tends to be rich enough that a not-Force character/feature character doesn't feel second class, or anything like that.
Just my two cents. Haven't played in this particular game, but I do think feature characters tend to work a bit better on Star Wars games, than others. -

It all depends on what is going on at the time apps are opened. Put your best foot forward, and toss your hat into the ring. You'll get a chance to strut your stuff in a "bubble" scene with the admin, so they can get an idea of what things might be like. Also, unlike most games, the vast majority[1] of the SW1 Feature Character/Force User community is comprised of regular folks. Hopefully that helps.
[1]Vadim, the "uber Sith Lord," and current Galactic Emperor, is an admin NPC played by our resident Force Wiz, Milton, to facilitate Sith training, although Vadim's in-game appearances are exceedingly rare. Thel runs the day-to-day Empire.

Not to disparage anybody, because everyone has different tastes, but I am very 'meh' about Star Wars games that heavily restrict Force Users and only let you play them when the staff decides.

Well I was going to make a PC, but then the newbie helper apparently deduced my musoapbox name and started pming me on here. So I know what game I don't intend to make a PC on. Seriously dude, chill the fuck out. I was reading boards. Creepy as hell.

You're a celebrity, Alzie.

MOD VOICE: On request by the poster(s), and after some discussion with my fellow admin (we don't really see the point of this but it's asked and it's no skin off our backs in the end), I'm going to be removing @Bobotron's original post, as well as @Jaspar's second. That said, we're not interested in willy-nilly removing the posts the rest of you have made, so I'm going to be moving those to a new thread for this topic and life will go on.
I encourage someone with more vim about the idea of after-the-fact editing to toss up a discussion-topic on the idea, not about this in specific, but about whether we as a community think it's a useful thing to find acceptable, or not.
