Anyone else want Beast Wars back?
-
Yes it's niche, yeah the last died a decade or more ago... But I loved them, and I miss them. Sadly I'm no hand at coding (unless someone gives me idiot proof instructions) but I've been a builder on games in the past, Dark Ages of Cybertron, TriForce MUCK back in the day, a StarCraft game that (annoyingly enough) never opened after I had set up all of the Protoss planets... If there is anyone out there that wants to bring Beast Wars back as a MU, hit me up! I'd be more than happy to help out in whatever form I can!
-
I'd love a good Transformers MU. G1 or Beast Wars. Or a combo of the two.
-
Well, for a G1 game, there's Transformers Universe, it combos G1 Marvel Transformers and the Marvel G.I. Joe storyline in tandem
tfuniverse.mudhosting.net 1976I exist there as Alley-Viper 301 (Hail Cobra!!)
-
I visit there from time to time and they just don't seem very active. It's not quite the theme I'd be looking for anyway really.
-
A lot more active than you'd think, granted mornings (relative, I suppose, but before 2-3pm Central Standard it's quiet, then things pick up and go.
-
I'll have to check it out. I'll also have to see about digging out my old Beast Wars DVDs and comics omnibus...

I remember there was some meta that MASK (The tv show that involved vehicles converting into other vehicles) had ties to the TF/Joe universe; in that the MASK operatives were retired/detached Joes using Transformer technology in their vehicles, and VENOM was some offshoot or evolution of Cobra.
The 80s were weird, man. -
Sensational ran one (BW Mush) that I loved playing on a good couple of years back but it shut down fairly quickly.
There's TF mushs elsewhere that are more IDW inclined but I still kinda love the giant robots aspect that gets... kinda lost when you're on a ship or on Cybertron.

Recently, there was a Hasbro crossover event into the IDW universe, which publishes the new Transformer comics. It's not really an 80s thing, as far as I can tell.
There was a GI Joe / Transformers comic series published by Marvel back in the day. And I'm not ashamed to say that I have the full series in my basement.
-
No need to be ashamed! I have the full Marvel Transformers run sitting in a box in my closet along with most of the DW run. For IDW I've been getting their over-sized collector's editions. I think the IDW series is fun by like ThatDamnGuy said, it's just different when it's not on Earth.
-
And TFU has had MASK at one point as a TinyPlot as a subset of Joe (with VENOM a subset of Cobra), and TFU also has integrated Jem to an extent as well. TFU is the only remaining TF MU* from the 90s heydey of TF MU*s.

Did 2K5 finally close?
-
Last time I logged in 2k5 had no one logged in. I don't think it's closed so much as essentially dead?
-
Wow, that's too bad. 2K5 was never my thing but it was the rock of the TF MU genre for a while.

Yeah, I meant more that the entire concept behind MASK was 80's weirdness - not the crossover. Between Transformers meta, GI Joe meta and the idea that MASK is some kind of non-organic bastard offspring of the two... the last one actually makes the most sense.
-
I really liked MASK. Well not the racing season but everything before that. I'll never forget the year my grandmother asked me what I wanted for Christmas and my answer was, "A Switchblade!"

I loved the toys, but they were fragile as all heck. I remember having the dune buggy that turned into a flying thing, and the egg-shaped robot that turned into ... a ... scooter... that was also egg-shaped.
