@ortallus I actually had no idea what your orginal post was and was largely remarking on just the general direction this thread went. Your original post was showing as "Deleted" by the time that I looked at this threat this morning. (Shocking as it might seem, I don't typically get on here during the weekend.)

Eating tide pods is pretty minor stuff.
The current fad of young people mutilating their bodies is beyond sad.

You mean the 'fad' from many cultures that has been done for millenia?

            You what?

I suppose it’s no more deadly than how much piss old people are taking these days.

The current fad of young people mutilating their bodies is beyond sad.

What kind of mutilation? There’s a pretty massive scale.

If you're not working in an environment where you can't have body mods, I don't see why it's such a big deal. Most folks are just getting a few piercings and/or their ears stretched.

@paris I'd definitely add that unless it directly impacts performance or health, there's no real reason to disallow someone with body mods from working.

Objectively yes, of course. In practice 'image' counts a lot for some businesses, including departments that don't deal with the public or their clients.

For a milder example my company works with banks and financial institutions so we're not permitted to wear t-shirts at work, including development and phone-support teams our customers would never get to meet.

What fad is this? Something worse than tide pods?

@lisse24 It's just Tyche and his usual trolling, pay it no mind.

Admittedly though, the tide pod challenge is minor when compared to people getting into a car blindfolded, as per this idiotic bird box challenge.

It's grown ass adults doing that one, though, not the kids. 😞

@sunny The only one I saw when I wrote the original post was a 17 year old, and I never saw any adults doing the tide pod challenge at all.

Mind you, I've seen plenty of adults walking around their house or back yard doing the Bird Box challenge, and that is, frankly, dumb, but w/e. It's not like they're having people shoot at them while they're doing it or putting pointy spikes around their yard first.

But anyone who gets in a car to drive blindfolded should be deported. To Antarctica.
