I know we have a recipes thread, but what about general 'food?'

Anyway, I wanted to share this chocolate brand:
      https://www.raakachocolate.com/collections/all-raaka-chocolate

It's the first time I've eaten a piece of chocolate and actually tasted the 'flavor notes' mentioned. It was amazing.

As an added bonus: all of their chocolate is kosher, gluten-free, soy-free, and they have vegan options as well.

But mostly it's just fucking delicious and my new favorite brand.

There's a really excellent chocolate called Madécasse that has intense flavor. But, like most robustly flavored chocolate (did I really just unironically type that), it's quite dark. Milk chocolate can be wonderful, but you aren't going to be able to taste the underlying chocolate unless you're eating chocolate with a really high cacao percentage.

I have almond brittle made with truffle salt. It's unreal and delicious.

Also for our local vegan and vegetarians:
              Alpha Foods

I've had their chik'n patties and burgers. Both were better than Morningstar (and the chik'n patty was actually really good). Those are not out yet, but I'd def. recommend giving them a try if you do spot them.

I am using my dehydrator on some bacon tonight that has been marinated in soy sauce, brown sugar, black pepper and habanero powder to make spicy meat candy... will update tomorrow.

you're inviting me over to try it, right?

(Side note: BA's recipe for Mac & Cheese is pretty awesome and I make it a couple times a month.)

So I forgot to take pictures of the bacon candy...

Will you forgive me for some Salmon Jerky?

                      Barely.

                      You denied me bacon.

@The-Sands You do, it's fun. Just dont use those kits with the guns that use ground meat, never had good results. Fresh lean meat, put in the freezer for a bit for firmness but not too firm, slice thin, marinate, dehydrate, NOM.

Stone ground chocolate. I haven't actually tried any yet, but thought I'd share because it looks v. good and is kosher (I know some folks around here keep an eye out for that stuff!).

So I finally got the last piece of cast iron I could possibly have/use <a wok>.
I love it. Made a couple of awesome stirfries in it. Just made a killer steak and cheese <basically, treat it like a stir fry - shaved steak, onions, peppers instead of your normal meat and veg, Worcestershire sauce instead of soy, A1 instead of whatever finishing sauce you use>
And now... now we just dropped close to 2000 dollars on a new induction-top stove. Because induction works better with cast iron. Because it has a linked double burner that I can put a long griddle pan on.
I did not have a griddle pan before because our old electric coil stove didn't heat evenly across even an individual coil, much less two.
                                    I... I now have a griddle pan.

                                    Someone help me.

                                        I am making more jerky,

Base: Molasses, Soy Sauce, Brown Sugar.
Spices: Cayenne Pepper, Habanero powder, Habanero peppers (sliced), White Pepper, Black Pepper, Few drops of liquid smoke.

Pro Tip: DO NOT WIPE EYE AFTER HANDLING! (NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT ITCHES)
