when I reboot my Mac, it remembers what programs I had open and relaunches them for me.
Get your fuckin' Windows to do that.

      ...why?

Because I have ADD and a bad memory and don't always remember what I had going on? So it's nice that it gets me back to what I was doing without me flailing around feeling lost.

        +1.

My notepads and Office stuff at work do that just fine. Which is pretty much all I need. Browsers too. And I don't have to wait a thousand years while all of them load, and can selectively choose which I wanna deal with.

It takes my Macbook like, 30 seconds to load everything again.

...is that really that terrible a wait??

@Auspice that does not seem like a thing that I would want my computer to do. In fact, it sounds very annoying!

For all the 'hurr durr get a real OS' people:

when I reboot my Mac, it remembers what programs I had open and relaunches them for me.

Get your fuckin' Windows to do that.

Various flavours of Linux can do that. Since we're talking about using a real operating system.

I only need that for Chrome, so put that in your BIOS and POST it!

                        Boss's Day.

I just got an email about it from one of my coworkers wanting pooling together money for our two managers.

Why? Why does this bullshit "holiday" exist?

doesn't sound like a real holiday to me.

Sounds like your coworkers have a bit of stockholm syndrome going.

It's bullshit. The Ask A Manager blog I know has had posts responding to the question of how to discourage this sort of thing from coworkers.

No. It's definitely a thing. It's on October 16th. There's a line of Hallmark cards and everything, despite it violating the usual office etiquette of gifting down rather than up.

                                Super gross.

I can see, say, getting your boss something as a group for their birthday (esp if they're a good boss)... But not for something as dumb as 'Boss' Day.' Esp since none of the other arbitrary days have I ever been gifted something by a boss other than to have them go 'hurr hurr did you hear it's <insert day here>?'

Steal the money and use it to start unionizing. They'll thank you later.

I celebrated this holiday by buying some IKEA organizing shit for my partner and taking my associates out for lunch.

A real boss doesn't need a holiday. A real boss shames the bosses who don't treat their employees as valued members of a team. If you're a real boss, you do whatever it fucking takes to make sure the people who work with you forget that you sign their paychecks.
