Settled on developing a Altered Carbon-esque style Eclipse Phase 2e game while I develop my SW game on the side.

I guess the show.. but I don't want to use their theme.. I want to use an original theme with the same ideas of virtual consciousness. Im looking into Eclipse Phase now though.

Which would be more preferred? First or second edition? I'm looking at 2e right now, and it fits perfectly. Especially creepy clingy AI hotel PC templates.

My vote is for 2E. You should still be able to download the 2e QuickStart rules for free on DriveThruRPG so that'd make the playerside pretty readily available to people. Won't go in-depth, but enough to get the feel.

Been coding on Rhost for 15+ years. Just now learning some Python.. though it does supports Python now.

As well as most languages. The reality levels and new totem and tag systems will make automated combat and AR/VR extremely easy and efficient.

For those not familiar with Eclipse Phase. You can be....

-An Infomorph (sentient program)
-An Uplifted animal like a dog, dolphin, ape, raven, or octopus
-An 'Infogee'; a stored personality that evacuated from the fall of Earth and has been in digital storage ever since. And you can finally afford a sleeve to come out of storage
-Other type of human

Your sleeves can be biological, mechanical, or a synthesis of both. Besides basic humanoid forms, there's:
-'Space Whales' that use magnetic shielding to hang out and chill in the sun's coronasphere
-Gliders that soar through the clouds of Venus
-'Swarmbots' made of clouds of interconnected micro-robots
-Gigantic cyborg coconut crab tanks

Uplifted Species might be put on the 'illegal' list for the most part, but otherwise, it definitely all fits into the feel of Altered Carbon. I'm also not opposed to using Altered Carbon as a theme..
