      Apparently my spoken vocabulary is fairly extensive; moreso than I often realize. I got accused way too often by my ex-husband (and some of our mutual friends, even one who also considered themselves a writer) that I 'purposefully' used words they didn't know.

      They say: "You purposefully use words I don't know."

      I hear: "I'm too stupid to understand the language I purport to speak."

      Oh yeah? Well I'll Um.. Pur your port! ..? Git outta here wit'cher fancy words!

            I was doing my hair, forgot I was doing my hair, and lost a full hour of progress.

              I just realized the reason I'm not getting out of bed is that I'm hyperfocusing on my daydreams

              And that I've got depression

                            'Oh right I need to do that thing okay but I have to do this other thing first so-' and then it falls off the stack.

                            Get up to go make food, the stack is:
                            'Make food'
                            In the kitchen it becomes: 'Get a drink, make food'
                            Cat begins fussing at me: 'Give cat treats, get a drink, make food'
                            I see the dishes need to be done: 'Give cat treats, get a drink, make food'

                            At some point, something / everything falls out of the stack. And this is what the neurotypical types don't understand. If I, say, walk out of the kitchen for some reason (e.g. need to use the bathroom)... the whole cycle resets and I don't remember 'make food' for possibly hours.

                              @Wretched Very true. I think it's different for everybody though. Sticky notes work really well for me as long as I don't leave them sitting there long enough for them to become part of the woodwork. Alarms work when accompanied by some external urgency. I've trained my brain to heed the "time to go pick up kids from school" alarm, but the "time to make snacks" alarm tends to get waved off with a "yeah yeah I know, I'll get to it in a minute." (cut to 20 minutes later)

                              @Auspice That is my life.

                                          This is a real thing when you have children.
