      Pugmire/Monarchs of Mau.

      Yeah this is a must.

Something where people actually hang out on the grid and organically roleplay would be nice! Was that mentioned already? I bet it was. If so, I support this objective 100%.

For something like this(X-Files, Fringe, Etc) I would probably suggest Conspiracy X by Eden Studios. It's literally designed for this type of theme. I also think it falls in between the areas of Light Stats and Crunchy.

FS3 is probably most likely, though which version of Conspiracy X are you referring to? I assume you mean the Unisystem one rather than the GURPS one?

I was referring to the Unisystem incarnation. I'm not a fan of GURPS but you could probably do it fairly well with that system too.

My son and I just finished She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and uh, man. A high adventure, pulpy swords-and-sorcery-and-sci-fi game would be ridic amounts of fun.

It got me snagging the Masters of Umdaar FAE book and paging through it. Now if only I could code worth two shits. >____>

The statement that has ended a many MU* concepts.

@Wizz I wish fewer people would not get hung up on this concept. Get Ares, add a profile tab that supports PDF files(I can show you how if need be), have character sheets done via PDF with +dice support if need be. I'd play the crap out of a He-Man/She-Ra game and FAE works very well for it I think. 🙂

Just have to drop my 2 cents in agreement here. I run a WoD game off Ares and we use Google Sheets for the character sheets. Embedded into the Background Tab after approval. So you definitely don't need to have any knowledge of coding to start up your own MU - just have to get a little creative if it doesn't quite fit FS3/Fate/Cortex.

Especially because Faraday/the rest of the community is very helpful and hands on where there are issues that arise

Yeah, the whole point of Ares is so that people don't need to know code to run a game.

But it all comes down to what type of player experience you want. Sure, if you want to use a custom system (not FS3/Fate/FFG/Cortex, which are already built) and you want coded chargen/xp and automated dice rolling to account for modifiers, skill+attribute, opposed rolls, etc. you're going to need to write a crap ton of code. There's no avoiding that. But that's not the only way to run a game. Text or PDF-based manual character sheets and dice 2d6 works fine for some folks.

Yeeeah, it's really just my excuse at this point, haha. I've actually gotten an Ares game up and running before just to test it and it IS super super easy, it's just a matter of getting off my ass. 😂

@Wizz Making a game is a ton of work no matter what. My only goal is that code is not the defining obstacle 🙂

I will say that I've been playing with Ares again the past several weeks/months, and while I've always said code is not my thing, I went through the Ruby tutorials on Codecademy and through Faraday's code tutorials and I am feeling really confident in my ability to create a game using a different system.

Friday's my next day off and when I'll next really dive into code, so check back in after that >.>

Since He-Man and She-Ra have been mentioned, I thought I would toss this out there.

Is... is there a way to also connect it to some sort of PDF with moveable tokens and/or a map of sorts? In an almost wargame-like manner? Because I've been wanting to do an Iron Kingdoms game for AGES, but it is pretty wargame-y when it comes to combat.

OR I could just wait for the 5e version to come out. Which I will inevitably buy, despite hating it, because levels are for suckers.

@Jennkryst You can build whatever you want with custom code, but there's nothing like that built in. If it works as an embedded iframe (which is kinda like the PDF) or a link to an external site (like roll20 or google sketch or whatever) then it would be fairly straightforward. Doing your own from scratch would be a tremendous amount of work.

@faraday There's also Vassal and Wartable.Online that could work? I'll test them out and see which is easier to work with folks. Pesky combat is pesky.

Yeah I'm not really familiar. FS3 combat is deliberately more narrative/freeform, so tracking positions on maps is not really a thing I've needed or wanted.

How about a game where everyone is treated with respect? That would be a nice change.
