Okay, the honest truth is that it seems like people are leaving Euphoria more and more. It is getting the point where we have very few people signing up for things and engaging, and making it difficult to sustain plot. So I would like to get Feedback:

If you are someone who has left, or you know someone who has left can you let me know why? I won't take anything said here personally, and you're welcome message me privately or message NGC-6302 on game to talk to her if I'm the problem.

Thank you for any answers shared.

It's too fast paced. I don't connect for a couple of days and so much has been done that participating at all feels like I'm playing catchup.

@Tinuviel So if I ran things twice once instead of twice a week, would that be preferable?

Although I don't play, schools just started up in the last couple of weeks, and because 2020, that is sort of a nightmare in a lot of places - so at least part of it might just be because people have kids (or are involved in education) and are losing their minds.

I've had a rough couple of weeks. I haven't been really playing anywhere. I'm barely logging in, and that's only to chat with people.

I don't think Ares and I get along. Tried a scene, entered it, got 1 pose in then the host closed it and private RPed with the other person. That made me think TS scenes were more important than general RP scenes, or meeting/helping new folk, to some of the playerbase.

Then I'd later log in, look around, and go... how do I scene with someone. Do I stand around and hope? Do I proactively join? How many poses in with an active scene is appropriate to join? Tried a bit of each, but to no luck.

Also having to rewrite a character application 4 times over several days was frustrating, especially as it was due to a either a lack of lore files, or a rule change in middle of writing the character sheet. Was happy roll with it, but that took out the initial wind in the sails.

But - I loved the need to detail out a flaw in the character. That felt good, nice balance, also the skill system was very easy to pick up. Process itself of making a character was simple, the application side that is.

I really don't understand the common policy of rapidly cycling people who don't log in every week. It's very depressing to see 8 people get purged every week. Who cares if a non-roster didn't log on for a while?

That would absolutely be a dealbreaker for me. That has to be the strictest activity policy I've seen in years.

Well, I don't know how long it actually takes to idle out! But right before this post was made, a whole bunch of people were purged, and it just baffles me. Why not let them mosey on back?

Euphoria's idle policy is 60 days. The way Ares works is that you get warned once via post, and then when the admin runs the idle sweep again (and you still have not logged in), you get marked as "Gone" or your last will is enacted if you set one up.

People marked as 'gone' still can come back if they want to. But if you haven't logged into a game in 60 days? Ehhh, odds are you aren't coming back.

Every single game has an idle policy. I'm not sure why that would be a deterrant.

@Cobaltasaurus Your idle policy says 60 days, but you're enforcing it after 30 days.

Again, sorry, my mistake. It just seemed like really odd timing, and I often go two or three weeks without logging into a place sometimes.

You've taken one part of the quote there to apply that for Ares.

@Lemon-Fox Was your character added to the idle warning? Like, it's fine if that's your whole thing - you do you - but I don't know what this has to do with bad timing.

@Cobaltasaurus I really would stress not trying to fit your game around complaints of people who have left. It's like trying to cram a square peg into a round hole. Just remember that one person's "too fast" is another person's "too slow", and changing the way you do things on a couple of people's opinions is just going to upset other people and you'll be on this vicious cycle of asking what you did wrong.

I'm not saying you have to, but the way the entire comment was structured did not lead me to read it that way. @Sunny has expressed her incompatibility with Ares a lot; everyone's entitled to their preferences.

I'm not sure why what you're talking about would be a hindrance though. I don't know how long you tried; how many times; who the people in those scenes were; if you tried using the RP Requests channel; what time of the day you were on; or a host of other things.

I'm not saying you can't have had trouble even if you take all this into consideration, of course; maybe the game's playerbase doesn't jive with yours. I'm just not sure this is particularly an Ares problem. But if you need help figuring out the technical aspects of starting a scene and stuff, I can probably help and get you situated lickety-split.

@Coin Several people had said in the past that trying to find and start RP on Ares systems is difficult. I'm one of them, so I'm sympathetic to @LWhiskey's issue.

That being said, I haven't looked at Euphoria at all to have an idea on what is and is not working.

For me, it's the variables. I don't have the RP confidence to go on an RP Request channel and say - "Hey, any random out there fancy a scene on tea tasting?" Just not how I've conducted RP, and I'll admit my hours aren't EST/USA friendly so already the player base numbers are lower. So the time of day would be a factor.

That said - what are the answers to the questions. Should I join a scene that is 6 days old and 70 poses in?

The thread is: "If you are someone who has left. Why." Part of it is those variable with a system that has many-many benefits for people out there. But just didn't gel with me.

And that's cool, man. (I mean, obviously it's not cool that you had a problem getting into the game.) I have a lot of issues starting up RP, too; I almost never (like neeeeeeeeeveeeeeeeeeer) use the RP Requests channel except to accept requests, for example.

I was just trying to ascertain if the problem was technical or what; because if you're difficulty starting scenes was "how do I actually open a room" then it's an easy fix! You know? I always suggest going into games knowing one or two people will RP with you. But I know that's not always possible (from personal experience) and sometimes we just dive in lone wolf style and see what happens.

I'll RP with anyone who asks, though case in point my character on Euphoria is perhaps the difficult type to really gel with. XD But I try!

To @LWhiskey 's point, I did see a lot of Euphoria's scenes were "open but..." and limited to certain rank/Navy people/job. And a lot of the scenes have been "open" for days and days and there doesn't seem to be a lot happening. I will say again and again that I think that can feel uncomfortable and confusing for people new to Ares, new to a game, or just in general. I am definitely one of those people who will not join a scene that's been going on for 6 days and hasn't had a pose in 2 and seems to be throwing a pose every 2.5 days. It just isn't my speed.
