The Savage Skies

I know, for me, a lot of it HAS been just being so very tired and not having a lot of energy to start things, or reach out to new people to try and expand my character's social circle. Which leaves me, like, one other PC who my character interacts with. And they're a great PC, and I enjoy every scene, but it's just hard to have the energy to make new friends right now, and no one else has really 'clicked' right off hand with my PC.

I'm not really keen on the idea of polling the playerbase in general bc I don't feel like it really does anything except make people start thinking the game is on it's last legs? If I were you I would just head into the next adventure. As long as you & Blu are actively running plots that aren't blocked to people, people will play.
I'm not on this game, but I disagree in a general sense. When I see polls from staff about the game regarding what players don't like or what they want more of, it makes me feel like they're interested in opinions, not that the game's dying.

@Roz Yeah I mean it's always cool to ask your playerbase what they are enjoying, what they want more of, etc. I would expect staff to have the pulse of the game. But a 'why aren't you playing here' poll seems... different? from what you are talking about.

@bear_necessities Seems like valuable info to know how much of a game's activity downturn is due to external forces they can't control vs internal forces they can. /shrughands

@Roz Yeah you're probably right, it's really just a personal thing I've felt which is why I tried to address it as a "me" statement and not a general one lol

This was the last place I was playing meaningfully, and I've been gone for a bit now, so a lot really may just been general MU fatigue. Let me also say I've always liked playing with you guys on the various games we've been on, so please do not take any of this personally!
I think if I tried to get into specific criticisms a lot of them would verge into the general Ares stuff that's been talked to death recently, in that this game, like many of its ilk, seemed to have a lot happening in private scenes and smaller groups. It could simultaneously feel like nothing was happening and everything was rushing you by.
I think there were also some minor issues regarding what kinds of concepts were encouraged (vs supported) and how that meshed with the game's approach to history. On the military (my char) or political (one other player I knew who quit) side, it seemed like we were doomed to failure no matter how much we succeeded because history and theme required the march of the Magic Nazis to go on. The only place you could really move forward was by being a magical researcher (a role that's always both oversaturated and inevitably dominated by that one eager beaver or clique, you know the one) or treasure hunter.
There were more specific personal frustrations and failure points here and there, but I think on the balance it was mostly those larger kinds of issues that may not be easily remedied.

This is a really good game with a rich history, and I enjoyed my time there as Ashley. Sometimes, I think about coming back. But Arx hits all the right notes for me, for whatever reason, and I've only the time to devote to one PC.
I've talked at length about not liking private scenes or asynchronous scenes. When I left, this seemed to be the norm, and while I've no problem with that, I'd rather play on a game with more public or synchronous scenes.

I had a lot of fun on the game, unfortunately RL just got in my way. My activity in both TSS and Arx went to zilch. Just a lot of mental fatigue from work and RL, my creativity has hit rock bottom. Hopefully I can find the spark again to want to write and RP sometime in the future.
I also think the survey can be a very good source of valuable information for game runners who care about the game. Sort of like an exit interview which can be answered anonymously.
