      @faraday I wish I could, but I work full-time so I can't actually teach him myself. I can't even really sit down with him as our schedules are largely opposing.

        @too-old-for-this Oh believe me, I sympathize. I work full-time too, and I'm a single mom. It's insane. But I don't know what else to do when my kid is just spacing out for the entire zoom call. They're not getting any of the material or doing any of the assignments.

          @faraday Thankfully mine is in high school, so his zoom meetings demand a level of attention and response. But yeah, as soon as it moves to 'work time', he just sort of zones, or starts playing a game. And I don't know how to help him engage in the work.

            I go see my PCP today, to talk about (in part) something different for the ADHD.

            The Wellbutrin helped VERY short term. A few months, maybe 6? And it was an improvement, but not like what I've heard/read from others about their medications.

            So I'm ready to have to fight for adult ritalin, or something. But fuck, I'm nervous.

              I wish you luck at it.

              Personally: I went to a one-time visit with a specialist on ADD. He was out of network, and it was not an inexpensive ~30-minute conversation, but it got me documentation of a diagnosis.

              This has been useful. Hopefully your PCP can and will help, I've had to do some shopping around for doctors.

                @insomniac7809 Well, other things in my life decided to tell me fuck you in a maaaaaaaaaaajor way today, so I didn't get to go.

                She won't do a telemed appointment, even though I've already been diagnosed with ADHD.

                    @macha Shit. I'm sorry.

                    ...as far as noticing the differences with the medicine goes, for what it's worth, I've never noticed a big difference myself. It's people around me who've noticed that I've decided that means they're dumb and I should stop taking them. So, personally, not feeling the major changes I've heard other people describe didn't mean it's not being a help.

                      Finally getting formally tested. I'm guessing my psych wants to pin it down since it exists alongside medical and other psychiatric fun. I'm a book!

                                And instead of doing any of the things on the wheel, you spend 8 hours staring at a video game*, having made almost no progress despite the time that has elapsed.

                                • video game being interchangeable with pretty much anything that should have a productivity level or emotional/logical resonance to it. i.e. binged a show, worked on a project, etc.

                                    This is not good, y'all.

                                        My ADHD is running on hyperdrive. Not hyperfocus, either. I am thinking about so many things on so many levels right now, that I'm completely overwhelmed, bursting into tears repeatedly because of the chaos in my head - and I CAN. NOT. STOP.
