@silverfox I'm just impressed they can keep their eyes and mouth that wide simultaneously. When I yawn, mouth opens and eyes close.

                  Unfortunately, no. No faces.

My shelter's director and right hand adoption facilitator are on a mission to try to trap some kittens spotted behind a local (lol, that makes it seem uncommon... it isn't) Marijuana dispensary. If they can catch them we will emergency foster until they can find a permanent foster.

Husband isn't happy I said yes to it, but agreed as long as he gets to name them Indicia and Sativa.

@silverfox Are you sure there are only two? If not can I suggest Ruderalis before resorting to Hybrid?

(Seriously, good thing to volunteer for and I hope you guys get them trapped.)

The first one is trapped and this is them.

The shelter just got a call saying another has wandered into a second trap. Apparently they are SUPER feral. Like, we will need to wear gloves, shoes, thick pants, and heavy long sleeves any time we go near them.

The poor babies. It is raining like crazy tonight (just shy of snow) so they are probably miserable.

These guys are the weirdest ferals. On one had they are clearly terrified and don't want to intact with us. On the other hand they don't hide in the holes we made for them, they don't hiss, and they don't scratch. At worst they chirp their discomfort with the situation.

They for sure don't really trust people and aren't ready to be adopted but I am REALLY hoping you are right. They are a little big so things are stacked against them in the adoption corner already. If we can't get them to be sweet babies who like people they might never get a chance. 😞

Untrue! My favoritest cat ever was a gray-and-white feral that my brothers literally caught out in the woods. We named him Storm. He was aptly named. And kind of mean. And I loved him.

People like me exist! Just be up front about it. 😄 Don't sell their image as sweet babies. Sell their image as strong-willed hellions that will always surprise you and you will find a good home for them.

I mean, the behavior you described sounds like what my kittens exhibited. They came from a shelter. I think there's a difference between "feral" and "not-socialized," and it sounds like the latter.

Do not. I love cats but I have had an old man dog come back to live with me and while he is normally chill with cats he sometimes gets hangry and wants to snack on them.

While not true for you, it IS true for cats that come into our shelter unsocalized and/or feral. Our shier cats or cats that hiss at the people that come into the shelter on AVERAGE just do not get adopted. So while, yes, some feral come to be beloved family pets, it is a mark against them in the process to eventually get them a home.
