So yeah. Emergency care. I probably don't have to tell anyone how monumental the bill is likely to be.

It is not looking good. What they found, they need to do an ultrasound and fine needle aspiration (I think that's what she said, there was a lot and.. most of it not good).
I am heartbroken.

You may also want to look into Care Credit, if you have not already. See if your vet will take it. It is one of those credit card programs that you can use for both veterinary costs and regular personal medical costs. If your vet takes it, they have programs where you have something like 6 months to a year to pay off the debt with 0% interest. If you default paying it off, you accrue all of the interest, but if you pay within the terms - it's entirely interest free. Or, they'll offer a lower percentage rate. I signed up for this when my I took my dog to a neurologist in 2020 and it was really a lifesaver for me to help him get the care I felt he needed.
I am so, so very sorry your dog is going through things. I ended up losing my guy in the end; the tumors were aggressively eating his spinal bones and crushing his spine, and had broken his back.

@macha "Fine Needle Aspirate Biopsy" -- sounds like they need to use the ultrasound to see what they're doing to get the needle into a mass near or in his bladder. They take an empty syringe, stick the needle in the mass and pull back on the plunger, then spray the little bit of stuff they pulled out onto a microscope slide, stain it, look for cancer.
It sounds like the mass needs to come out regardless, and that'll be painfully expensive, but don't let your heart break yet; them pibble-types are lumpy bois and get a lot of dumb 'benign' tumors that aren't a problem unless they're in an inconvenient spot, like pressing on the bladder and making it hard to pee or something.

@il-volpe That's the one. It's his prostate they need to check. They want the ultrasound to get a better look at a lot of things.
It's either prosta-something carcinoma, transitional cell carcinoma.. or inflammation of the prostate. The messed up thing is, the treatment for all three, at least at this point, is the same. NSAIDS and gabapentin (fun fact, I also am on gabapentin, at the same dose.).
I am so tired. He is still loopy from the sedation earlier.
Now I need to see if I can extend the luck on the gofund me, and afford the ultrasound.

Well, right now he's doing okay. He's on the meds they gave me, and doesn't seem to be in pain or anything. He didn't cuddle me in bed the first two nights after the vet, but last night he did. Who would think I would having him as a bed hog?

@derp He's at least eating decently, and doesn't seem to be in pain. And he's back to constantly wanting the petting
