Eldritch - A World of Darkness MUX
-
Going to second @ThatGuyThere on this one.
Some folks are in this hobby for the wrong reasons entirely. It's usually a guessing game as to whether that's the case or not with reasonable arguments on all sides.
When someone brazenly admits it? Yeah, time for them to be shown the door.
There's a short list of people I'm willing to pre-emptively ban from any game I run. He's on it. People I clash with constantly and/or despise are not on that list and I have zero desire to add them to it. He is. That should speak volumes.

I have no other horse in this race than keeping Eldritch drama-free, but I continue my belief that open is better than closed.
=============================== Announcements ================================ Message: 1/104 Posted Author Siteban: Rostam Wed Oct 28 Thenomain ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After being asked to look into a player here by their connections to Reno and RtK, I have decided to remove Rostam from EldritchMUX. The reasoning behind this concerns mainly his behavior as Rex on Reno, who was accused by several players of OOC emotional manipulation. After talking about this with Reno staff, I decided that this behavior was likely to repeat and asked Rostam to leave the game. He agreed. I expect this to have some fallout off the game, if not on, so let me preface to say that while it was Deviant who asked me to look into this, the reason behind my decision was the history of drama and not any drama slap-fight that Dev and Rostam had on another game. They're grown men and can sulk in their rooms. As Rostam was by his own admission involved in nothing, I don't forsee any issues on the game but if someone has questions or issues of any IC or OOC nature, please let me know. (Page or put in a Bug request. Yeah, really.) Thanks everyone, and enjoy your day. ==============================================================================
Sweet, now can the staff focus on making that game worth playing?
OH SNAPS SON! >.>

Alright, so why is he the devil?
(I've no idea, it's not a rhetorical question)

It's generally discussed here I think:
http://musoapbox.net/topic/68/random-bitching/3098There's a lot to it. I think all that can be said without treading on the privacy of other players is probably covered there, though.
It boils down to piles of sexual harassment, gleeful OOC predator behavior (proudly admitting he loves the hobby because it's full of emotionally damaged women he can manipulate into doing whatever he wants), being abusive on channels and to other players with zero remorse and no knocking it off when told to by staff because "I don't respect any of you so I'm not going to change my behavior", etc.
D'oh: http://musoapbox.net/topic/68/random-bitching/2969 -- there. That's the actual discussion. Didn't skim back far enough.

Ah, fair enough. Well, good riddance then.

Also, I heard Rex kicked a puppy once. He tried to kick a pussy but they all ran away.

Hello! I see, that the posts here are quite old. Any updates on this game? I am interested in vampire sphere mostly: politics, intrigues and etc. Is that possible to get such a thing there? These days I usually run into games, where staff is very strict, but not cooperative and always very busy. I imagine, if you have a strict game, then be there to guide your players or at least answer to their jobs. Otherwise, be pretty free game, that players could improvise and have fun.
So, should I join this game? Will I find what am I looking for?
Thank you for answers!

Currently the game is in its slow season. Most of the staff are also students, and it's finals season. Combine that with Nano and the holidays, and there's not a whole lot going on, either player-wise or staff-wise, though staff is at least responsive and willing to answer jobs that don't involve too much direct oversight.
That said, it's also a game where a large part of the fun you have is the fun that you make. You're given a pretty wide berth on what you can do in your own little slice of the game, with systems in place for handling those kinds of things (Neighborhoods, for example), so if you're looking for something with a ton of staff-driven activity, it might not be the game for you. There are staff plots, of course, an staff is more than willing to help coordinate things, but again, it's our slow season.
That said, I believe that all of the super spheres are mostly full up at the moment, but they open fairly regularly to allow players to app in in batches. Still, if you're looking to start off as a mortal or a ghoul, those are always being accepted.
-
Werewolf will be re-opening to apps sometime tomorrow, currently taking 5. If you're looking to play a werewolf, be sure to have an app ready, as they're first come, first served.

I know this is going to draw fire from the haters who want to hate, but this was posted on Eldritch and so I bring it here:
=============================== Announcements ================================ Message: 1/114 Posted Author So It Goes. Wed Dec 16 Deviant ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hey, babies. So there are a lot of reasons for this, and I'm not really going to list them, but they include real life, lack of motivation, and other factors that are personal and also just probably not going to change. Effectively immediately, we're shutting down automatic XP gains. Sinister is going to stick around to handle any requests you guys might have if you want to keep playing, but as it is, we're moving into the 'coasting' portion of this game. Stick around, hang out, play with people--whatever you want. Some day I may open Eldritch again with new purpose, but as it stands, this year was probably just not the best for starting and running a game for any of us that chose it. (And yet much like having children, when is the best moment to start a game, amirite?) So I'm not closing the doors for you guys--you can keep playing and telling stories. But yeah. We're pretty done. Sorry for those that this inconveniences. So it goes. - D. ==============================================================================
This goes for me, as well. It was a better-than-average run. We messed up, we over-extended and over-promised, and we learned a lot in the process. A sincere and heart-felt thank you to everyone who supported us.
-
@Thenomain Why would it draw fire? Eldritch was a good game - even a very good one for the first few months - and it had some very ambitious goals.
Yes, those goals weren't met but begrudging you, @Coin and @Eerie for it would be absurd. The game was still fun while it lasted. Thanks for making it happen guys.

I don't know, but look up further in the thread and you can see it. I'd rather it be left alone. It won't be, so I said it first.
Sinister continues the discussion:
=============================== Announcements ================================ Message: 1/116 Posted Author An Additional Note Wed Dec 16 Sinister ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Just so you know, Sinister is still here, and the rug has not been pulled out from under anyone. If you have jobs, I will continue to process them. If you have questions, I will answer them. If you wanna run plots or whatnot, I will still fulfill those things too. Right now, the only things that are changing are that we won't be approving new characters for the nonce, and auto-xp is turned off. But you can continue to play for as long as the lights are still on, or until Deviant decides to start the engine again, and I will continue to support you in those roles. So please don't feel like you've got to pack it in if you're not quite ready to do that yet. We know that you have stories you want to tell, and I'm fully here to support you in telling those, until you decide that you're storied out. Sin ==============================================================================
It's important to clarify that we're not giving the game to Sinister, but he has agreed to maintain it in a kind of status-quo. He knows that if he goes too far, Deviant (neé @Coin) will ask me to pull the plug. We're all on-board with this, and we'd much rather let people dork around than slamming the doors closed to the people who are still logging in.
edit: Yes, he has a Wizbit now. It would have been unreasonable and inappropriate to ask someone to maintain a game without one. He doesn't have any of the magic passwords. @Coin does but he keeps losing and forgetting them, like a forgetful landlord, leaving me, the head of repairs and improvements, to hold all the keys. Some people's children, I swear.

Correct. I'm still there to act as a caretaker, but I won't be approving any new characters, making changes to anything, etc. I'm just there to make sure that the things people need to have done are getting done, and they can continue to tell the stories they want to tell for as long as Deviant leaves the lights on. So don't worry, I'm not going to go crazy and make big changes or anything like that. It's still @Coin's game, and he's the one calling the shots. So for any who think that this is their big break and want to bend my ear for stuff, sorry. For those of you who want to continue telling the stories you've started until you find a nice place to wrap it all up, I'm here for you.

Agreed, I might talk shit but for the most part its because I wished and wanted Eldritch to be successful. Even though @Derp is a real POS both @Coin and @Eerie are alright by me... Not that other dude though... >.>

Huh, I had no idea I'd been missing all those colors.

Hm? The colors on those posts are from the code here on the forums, not on the game.

Oh. How odd.

To be fair, we could probably put up posts in those colors, though that would raise a few questions about our intentions in doing so. And even more, given that some of it is in italics.
Could be a fun game though!

Hey, I never said it had to be a play by post game. Personally I'd make a drinking game out of it.
