TV as MUSH (aka mocking True Blood)

I don't think you can play Monsterhearts as if it was Supernatural or Charmed. It's more about how much being a teenager absolutely sucks.
I would still be there, mind.
She said The Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf, which are essentially metaphors on the teenage condition, much in the same way as Buffy was.

Following @tragedyjones' lead here's some thoughts on Vampire Diaries as a MUSH
Shall I go on? >.>
Bonus round: And when a bunch of people want to use the same PB, you have endless doppelgangers running around.
See? PERFECT.

Hemlock Grove: When the small town really needs a high-tech facility for /reasons/,

Yeah, but in Monsterhearts, life is rough and painful in a way that Buffy occasionally touched upon, but things were pretty much status quo at the end of each episode, as is the nature of TV shows.
One of the MH Playbooks is a Slayer, tho, so.

Reusing actors isn't even unheard of on TV shows that take themselves sort of seriously. The Star Trek spin-offs and Law & Order did it all the time, and Deadwood cast a fairly prominent new part with an actor whose character it'd killed off (also fairly prominently) the previous season. It doesn't bug me on a MUSH unless there's a reason people who look vaguely similar might be notable in-universe (BSG is the only example that leaps to mind).

@tragedyjones Somehow.. I feel like I want to see a mu* called that so I could play it. Mind, I am also always tempted to play a My Little Pony mu*. So I might not be the best judge.

I kind of diagree. Buffy was actually one of the first shows in which, eventually, "status quo" cease to be a thing. Things changed in Buffy all the time and they stayed changed. Jenny died, and that colored everything Giles did after, how they viewed Angel, his arc returning to being The Ripper however briefly. Hell, even the status quo of Buffy returning to life was always undermined by it having some sort of pathos to it that other shows often ignored.
And anyway, Monsterhearts is a game, and these are television shows. You're never going to find a comparison, consistency-wise. Monsterhearts is still the quintessential CW supernatural beautiful teenagers doing horrible things to each other and everyone else.

Double post because:
One thing we'll never get on a MU that we get all the time on television is the will-they-or-won't-they Uresolve Sexual Tension...
... because on a MU, they always do.
That said, all those secondary characters that pair up with main characters whose TRUE LOVE picked someone else are really just alts of the True Love, so they can TS.

I'm laughing because as true as this normally is? I've had this take years to accomplish sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't.
Bonus: this was while I was playing on Shang, where that is the whole point, usually. How epic fail is that?
-
Yeah, it often takes my characters ages to get in on boning action.
And my Shang character joined a wizard's guild, studied, did politics, and learned landscaping. I never did get around to TSing because it was a hoot doing wizard stuff.

I am admittedly half-heartedly considering this. Like... I don't know what system I'd use. But this is the kind of joy and fun that I think warrants entertaining with a stupidly simple system behind it since the systems wouldn't be the real point anyway.
Because entertaining it would certainly be.
I always wanted to make a parody game and honestly, this would be close enough...

This is how I felt when I realized how they'd put the crazy fun of owod through a Super Serious Introspective Bullshit filter to come up with nwod.
