Yeah, well, Kingdom Come is Mark Waid and... well... I don't idolize anyone, but that dude is fucking great. I love KC.

I think the only comic book superhero that isn'tl literally a cosmic god with more privilege is Superman in the Elseworlds story Speeding Bullets where he's a god-level superpowered white dude adopted by rich old moneyed white people.
Yeah, his parents died. Super sad.
(Keep in mind I feel Speeding Bullets is one of the best Elseworlds, along with Kingdom Come, but daaaaaaaaaaamn.)

I realized a few weeks ago I have no idea which projects some of my all-time favorite comic book writers are doing any more. Mark Weid, sure, but also Kurt Busiek? Garth Ennis? At least Mark Millar is doing all the things.
Although unfortunately Jeph Loeb is also involved in everything, and I hate that guy's writing with a mild passion. What he did in Ultimates 3 was unforgivable.

I think Kurt is mostly taking a break and doing the convention circuit for a while. Garth is pretty much focusing on the Preacher TV series as an EP.

The last time I heard of Busiek doing anything was in the early 90s! That's a long-ass G.R. Martin-like break he's taking.

@Arkandel He's been doing side work for pretty much everyone (Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Dynamite, Image) while writing more Astro City in that time period. 'The Dark Ages' story arc (Astro City in the 70's) ran between 2005 - 2010. 2013, Vertigo started up Astro City Vol. 3. Kurt was answering letters on his own website about Astro City in June last year.
That's all a quick search revealed.

He has done a lot of Astro city stuff volume three went from 2013 to 2016 but you should really read every scrap of Astro City if you have not and like Busiek. that started late 90s and did a long run on the Avengers 98-2002 and the first hunk of Thunderbolts Starting in 1997-2000. All three of these are good reading and fairly easy to find collected editions of
He also did a fairly long run on Superman starting 2006 though I did not read that one so cannot comment on quality.
