Since it gives people discounts. Doesn't look like it is specific to the same crate I am doing:

My first crate shipped on the 17th and should be here soon as it left Memphis this morning. Hoping it will get here before Thursday!

We used to get lootcrate but lately it just has dropped in value and cool stuff (for us) that it hasn't been worth it so we cancelled it.

I can see where that might be a problem if you get it for a while. I'll probably drop it as well or swap it out for the gaming one for a while if that happens to me.

I am not a LootCrate person. I am annoyed by what I perceive as clutter and most swag tends to qualify as clutter. I'm fun at parties. That said! I think it all depends on how fandom you are about most things and if you care enough about a range of geek topics to want to subscribe.

Where I work there is an internal employee classified listserv and there are a lot of people trying offload LootCrate stuff they don't want, need, etc.

So it seems like for people who are really into the stuff they're getting, seems like a good deal but if you're gonna like maybe one item out however many stuffed in there, you might not enjoy it.

I understand about not liking clutter. I don't like it, either, even if I am the world's most cluttered person, ever. That's why my 'woman den' will have lots and lots of shelves and book cases and stuff like that for my various collections once we can have a house of our own. 🙂

As for liking everything in a box, I look at it this way. I might not like everything in the box but even if I don't I can save what I don't like for gifts. I'd be spending money on something to give someone as a present anyhow, plus I'd have to run out to the mall or wherever and all that. So in my mind it kind of all balances out for me.

That's how I treat it. I tend to like 50-75% of what's in each month. I've had it over a year and there's only been about 3 that I felt 'meh' about overall. But in each of those cases, the crate had items that I know friends of mine would be into. So I held onto them for gifts.

This isn't something I've personally ever been tempted to buy into, but I would have LOVED getting something like this each month when I was a kid. My fellow geek friends who have a couple of boys really enjoy it.

Man, if this was a thing (along with the internet and everything else involved since I am a kid of the 70s/80s!) I totally would have loved it, especially if they had the Kenner Star Wars action figures in it!

@Auspice Me, too. I usually like about the same amount of stuff. So I donate or gift it.
