Pokemon Go

@Auspice Abra was weird for me. For some reason every time it'd escape and poof after the first catch - I never got a second shot at it.
Then I caught it once, followed by like five more catches within a couple of weeks.
That's emulating the fact that in the Pokemon games, you get one shot at Abra before it runs. In most games, the only way to catch one is to put it to sleep turn 1 and then catch it.
-
Abra was one I actually managed to catch without problems on the first try. Now that damn Squirtle I found in my son's bedroom? That is a different story and I haven't seen one since then.
-
@Apu It's so weird rarities vary geographically. I've got like 4x Squirtle on me just now and I've
deleted a bunchsent a bunch to the farm. -
You just made me cry a little.
-
@Apu You probably have things I've never seen or are super rare in Toronto in your insta-cookie list.
-
I hatched a Scyther today!
-
Phoenix is lousy with Abras for some reason.
I've never seen a Squirtle, and the other water types are also super-rare.
-
I've gotten a couple Squirtles.
One Charmander (in the wild, another in an egg, and then my Starter).Never seen a Bulbasaur or Pikachu tho.
-
I only got a Pikachu because I did the trick that allows you to get one for your starter Pokemon. Haven't seen one beyond that. Saw/caught a Bulbasaur in the wild, have yet to see a Charmander.
-
@Apu The first time I caught a Pikachu in the wild it spawned for both my wife and I. Hers poofed; mine was caught. There was much hatred since, only intensified to an extreme degree when a few days later I also hatched a second one from a 5km egg.
I can live with domestic antipathy. My yellow buddies make it all worth it.
-
Haha. That's funny! XD
ETA: FINALLY got a Squirtle. Hatched it out of a 2km egg. Got another 2km egg in the incubator. Keeping fingers crossed for a Charmander.
-
Going to the college campus today, hoping I'll get some decent pokemon this morning. :]

There was an update. You can now click on your Pokemon, and under the same place where you could transfer the Pokemon for candies, there's an Appraise option. I got to have Spark tell me that my 'Breakfast' was amazing, and that it was the 'tiniest Breakfast' he'd ever seen. ^_^ I am now renaming my Pokemon for lulzy Appraisals.

Professor: "Its stats are the best I've ever seen! No doubt about it!"
-
Silph Road: Attack/Defense IV 20 of 30, Stamina 3 of 15. "A little worse than middle of the road."
Someone's giving me bad advice here. ^_^;

"Your Vaporeon is tinier than any we have on record. Astounding."
...thanks Blanche.

@Auspice I just wish they'd introduce actual new, fun features to the game. Ever since it launched they've worked on server stability, which is great, but nothing new fun to do. Appraise is so utterly useless I can't even - where's trading? Or fighting with your buddies' Pokemon?

Well, unfortunately.
The teeming masses whinging and whining for a 'Harry Potter GO' (which is a rubbish idea and I say this as an HP fan; the concept doesn't work unless you shoehorn it in) got their way. Niantic is now dividing their time/attention for that.
There is, also, starting this weekend, Anomalies in Ingress. Those are 'live' events around the world, so they do take up time. And it was their original game.
But yeah, between Anomaly-time and starting on the Harry Potter one (which I'm gonna say now is probably gonna be a shitshow because, again, PokemonGO is not a concept that you can just wedge any fandom into... I mean, hell, Supernatural would work before HP or Game of Thrones), they might not be able to get an update out just yet. They're still a fairly small company overall.

We have a place here, its a church and rehab center and buncha things all together... there's 9 pokestops right there, plus another one right next door and another right across the street. I just need to go half a mile to have 11 pokestops within a two block radius. XD
