Watching other pro gamers start voicing support for Hong Kong and more canceling their Blizzard subscriptions is pretty great.
I'm guessing Blizzard did not expect such an immediate response on this scale.
The answer to freedom of speech is not 'sorry we prefer foreign money'. Americans are pretty vocal about that sort of thing.

There was something written on this and a lot of this goes back to Tencent and the fact that it owns various percentages of a lot of different industry publishers.
I would make some kind of scathing commentary that falls along the lines of how freedoms only apply to capitalism when it convenient, but many others have already made the same statements, and more eloquently put at that.

The most annoying part of this is people on the side of China trying to 'educate' me about how things work in China. About how I 'do not understand Chinese culture'.
Motherfuckers, I am a giant nerd for Chinese culture. I study Chinese history as a freaking hobby, because I am that interested in it. -I used to live in China-. I am as intimately knowledgeable as you can be with something while being an outsider.
The oppression of Hong Kong has absolutely nothing to do with 'culture' and 'tradition'. It has to do with the CCP and its endless pursuit of state capitalism. The enemy of Chinese culture and tradition is the goddamn Chinese government and I feel like I'm screaming into the wind every time someone tells me 'I just don't understand China'.
Sorry for the rant.

@Admiral
Considering how much of their own history they've just outright destroyed just to build shit (or to try to get the populace to forget...)... yeah.
I mean if you want to argue 'modern culture' maybe. There is a definite modern culture that the new (70 year old that just celebrated.....) government is trying to enforce but there is also an older one too.
But that's a whole different thread I think.
But I don't think 'oppressing people' should be accepted as part of anyone's culture so y'know. I'mma support Hong Kong and Taiwan and.....

To trend back to being on topic:
Anyone else playing Roguetech? And if so have you felt like it's been more like Loadtech lately?Got any tips for improving the mod performance on the game? I'd ask the discord but reading some of their commentaries gives me that whole "git gud bro" vibe and does not entice me to engage.
-
@Jaded I'm too busy being shit on MWO at the moment.

For those interested in X-Com style turned based strategy, Phantom Doctrine is 70% off on Steam right now - $12 from $40. It's a game set at the peak of the Cold War as an espionage thriller, and it is very well done.Well crap. It was a flash sale and ended already.

I picked up Frostpunk on a whim, and it is a gritty. brutal survival game. I like it a great deal, but I can see the frustration in playing with it If you want to save everyone.
Hint: you ain't.

I tried to start playing STELLARIS last night. I couldn't even get a partway through the tutorial before my brain was fried. My brain just isn't wired for those types of games, even though I wish it was.

That's my issue with Stellaris.
I love it. I wanna play it so bad.
But homg it's so overwhelming my ADHD brain just caaaaaaaaan't.
It makes me so sad. -

I love Paradox because of how supportive of their games they are but the tutorial for Stellaris is crap. Honestly, if you want a good idea of how to play with the new mechanics of the game since they changed them earlier this year entirely, you are best hitting up Youtube or even asking for advice here. Stefon Anon does mostly Stellaris content on Youtube and he has a lot of great introductory/tutorial videos.

Exactly. I just can't focus like that...

Bloodlines 2 is getting delayed.
I mean, for understandable reasons, but I can still express a brief

I was about to chime in and note that personally I find Stellaris far more intuitive than say, Civilisation 6.
But then I looked and realize I have 321 hours in Stellaris but only about 50 hours between Civilisations 5 and 6 combined.

See, this is brains working in different ways I think.
I find Civ5 (more than Civ6 but that's just general differences in the game than the 'overwhelming' factor) relaxing. I can sink into a game of it for hours and never feel overwhelmed or panicky.
But Stellaris? I feel like I can never keep up. I feel like everything is spinning out of control and as soon as I have a grasp of one thing over here there's five over there that I'v elost track of and I've forgotten fifteen commands all over again and...

Anyone else playing Greedfall?
-
@Seamus I picked it up and played until you get to the main island, but haven't played it since. It hasn't pulled me in as much as I hoped it would.
-
@Alamias The main island has some really good points to it. I was able to work through and make Vasco my sextoy. So I'm happy with that. There is a bunch of underlying stuff that has started to come to the surface. It's really worth grinding through the 'slow' parts.
-
@Seamus I'm sure i'll get back to it at some point. Just like all the other games on the pile of 'I'll get back to these at some point' that I have going on...lol. But Outer Worlds comes out in a few weeks, and so far that has my attention peaked.
